Hello everyone,
This is a hypothetical question ive been thinking about for a little while, so please bear with me.
Why do you guys play Super Turbos, especialy the bulk players?
The reason I ask is, most forum posts about SupT's lay out BR requirements that seem to be much larger than requrements for other type of games. The bulk players will generaly suggest 200+ BI roll (the champ mentioned 300+), which is significantly larger than rolls required for other games including turbos. Also the variance is much larger than other games, and expected downswings are larger as well. At the start, Sup T's have the same push fold structure as late game Sit-N-Go's, however there are more people playing at this point so its more dificult.
Also, Ive always read that a Pro's experience is negated when stacks go down and post flop play (where pro's excel) is limited. Yet this is the nature of the SupT's at the core, so do amatures get a default + in EV?
The Champ, in his Well, was asked if the SupT's have been cracked, his responce was "they will never be cracked". However, SupT pros have awsome looking charts that seem to resemble escalators to profits, and bots have been written with perfect push/fold games. So which is it?
So..my main questions are:
1. Could these, clearly winning players, do just as well or perhaps better in games other than SupT's?
2. Can the upswings ever match the dowswings?
3. Is the upside a bigger ROI in the same time period, or a slightly smaller ROI but in less time?
4. Are these people (ie. wptfuji..etc) just superhuman and im not worthy?
The reason I ask is, I do fairly well in these and understand what is involved in taking them down. I have been thinking of doing some bulk play and was wondering if this is something thats truly worthwhile.
I appoligize if this post is in the wrong place and for the rambling. I hope to hear from some of the SupT pros on their thinking about this game.
Thank you,
O |

The main reason why I like super turbos is because I can play 50+ of them in an hour. In that regard, they are great for rakeback and a lower ROI is negated by the volume that I am able to get in. For instance, I can make $38-$40/hr playing $7.50 super turbos (including rakeback), where my hourly wage wouldn't even be close to that if I were multi tabling $6.50 or even $11 regular turbos.
I disagree with Fuji in the sense that I believe the upper level super turbos are very much a break-even endeavor at this point. However, with the smaller stakes super turbos (3.80s and $7.50s) the level of play from the average opponent is so bad that you really shouldn't have prolonged downswings, merely the occasional break even stretch of 1-2k games. However, the game becomes much harder at the $15s and above.
If you aren't going to play a lot of super turbos at once, I wouldn't recommend them. The volume you can get in with super turbos makes them appealing because that's where real profit comes from.
I don't find continuously 16 tabling them to be much of a problem and I think anybody can learn to 8 or 9 table them with some practice. One thing you should know is that you really haven't experienced all the variance that these babies have to offer until you've played probably 10K games, maybe more. |

| People like them to grind because of the volume of games you can play in a day. |

Super turbos are excellent for good shortstack poker players imo. Firstly, I wouldn't feel out of place saying most players playing these in the levels I have experienced do not have a solid grasp of shove/fold poker. Moreover, if you consider the the volume most players can get in, for example 10 tabling for a few hours, rakeback and FTP points would creep up pretty quick giving additional incentives.
That being said, the variance in these things IS ridiculously huge and the volume necessary to counteract this would be huge I'd expect. Therefore I would prefer to pay actual poker and concentrate on learning the game. |
