yes.
the scary part:
my prediction of the Cubs taking down the world series b4 the US wins the world cup may not come true. Oh wait. Maybe they could buy Reynaldo now.
They would hafta teach him baseball tho 
the even scarier part:
the only time they have riots at soccer matches in the US is when it's 10-cent beer night.

Not unless we have a long history of military brinkmanship with Spain that I'm not aware of. Part of the power behind the US vs USSR hockey victory was the backdrop of the cold war, and the ability to use that victory as a rallying cry against Communism in general, and the "evil Soviet empire" specifically.
Plus, Americans actually watch hockey.

as a hard mexican fan of football (not soccer), I have to say that USA played really well but have to point out that Spain clearly underestimate this US team.
Mexico and USA has earned certain sport rivalry and it now seems that USA is now the best team of the zone
It was sure an historic result, i just wish americans showed more interest on this sport which is considered as the most popular in the world.
Way to go USA, we will crush you in the Azteca field in August. |

My theory on this...South Africa beats Brazil because its a home game, then we massacre South Africa worse than the soldiers did at Little Big Horn, then the South Africaners riot and brutally injure our soccer team. |
