just a question.... what's a better flop for you?.... were you quad-mining?

lol...there isnt a better flop...you hit your flop, and your giving hands like AK a piece of the flop and you can possibly take all their chips

ya...if your laying that down..your gonna fold the winner 90% of the time

Another question, what's the point in limp calling when your going to fold a floped set on a ragged board? Can he not have AK, AA, QQ, JJ, or possibly making a move? How many hands have you played with this player to discover his "click tells" to a perfect science that it means 15 % of the time he has AA and 85 % of the time he has KK. Also, may you post those hands as well so I can learn these "click tells".

K I'm gonna put it this way....after a year or so of tournament play everyday and a gazillion cash hands you start to see things at the table other beginners don't....you start to feel your opponents hands because your ranging becomes more precise...Im often calling peoples exact hands out at the tables and I use to think I was psychic but its simply because Im learning to process more and more information making it easier to calculate my opponents hand range through process of elimination and such....

Now the problem with me is....I gave up on my instincts in the last months or so when I read a book and started reading peoples threads in these forums thinking that I was gonna better my game learning the popular strategy...Couldnt have made a worse move and its killed my game lately....

I think on pstars last December I won the $33 guaranteed tournament 2 nights in a row and second the thrid night....and 3 days later I got second again....like a 12k upswing...I remember that month...I was zoned into poker...waking up at 10pm at night and playing the night shift everyday with no distractions....I was making sick reads on everyone and pretty much dominated using "my" own system...a style I created and trusted because it came through practice...

Then I got cocky and lazy and my game went down the tubes when I stopped feeling I had to try to win....this is common...My point here is...If you wanna become a dominating player and stand out from the rest so you're not some break even player "customer" you need to become sick...you need to start seeing the traps...you need to make the value bets others won't...you to find your game that makes you unique because thats whats works and thats what will hold up under pressure....

The hand I posted was a case where I knew...and I mean I knew he had top set...when i raised turn I knew I was going broke...I know some of you don't know what that feels like but its possible....It hit me then that I need to start trusting my instincts again and thats why I posted this thread ...take it as you will

Cool

I'm sorry, I read these threads to better my game. You have not answered my question and would like you to do so. Please tell me how i can learn "click tells" and be sure some one has kings 5.67 times more then he has aces. Examples would be nice, seeing as how that is how I learned so much in this forum so far. Thank you.

Im not the best at explaing things for I'm alittle anti social but here it goes..

First tell....Mp1 raises to 4 times the limp to 160....this is a very comfortable raise...AK and QQ and JJ are gonna raise alittle higher here to limit down the field but hes not doing that...he wants callers....

Flop is K 9 3 rainbow....no scary draws etc.....he lets the time bank roll down 1/3 the way because he wants us to think hes alittle nervous but he also to anxious to let it go anymore because hes excited about his hand...he makes a half size pot bet...another indication that he wants action....he gets a call behind and I call....so in his mind he has to think one of us probably has a K or better correct?.....

Turn 4c....he again lets the time bank roll down to about half trying to give off even more doubt in his own hand but not any farther....he again makes another under half size pot bet...now it really hits me...there is a club flush draw...a king on the board and this guy is fainting weakness and making bets that are low enough to induce action....up until this point I was between AA and KK...if he had QQ he would have shut down or possibly made a 2/3 bet and with AK hes making a 2/3 bet aswell....with AA isn't he gonna make alittle bigger bet for value on the turn that also protects....this is when i decide he has top set of kings...hes got his monster and hes trying to ensure he gets callers or induce a reraise on turn...hence the under pot size bet...

I probably missed a few analytical details in here but thats the basic read

I'm sorry, I think your getting mixed up between reading and guessing. What lead you to believe the particular person would do these particular things in this particular situation. Hand history of other hands you have played with this player would help. You cant start to think on the third level without knowing your opp. thinks on the second level. Thank you and I doubt anyone can be sure some one has KK 5.67 times more then AA.

K I got this read on his hand not from knowing his history but by understanding the basic strategy of players...you sit at a table of 9 players in a lower level tourney...1 is a sick genius....2 are fish...and the other 6 are ABC players that all play alike....and maybe they deviate in their alphabet in certain cases but most all hands are played alike....therefor once you categorize your player you can pull from the history of his style...

I guess maybe I'm waisting my time with you guys...oh well...everyone seems to be a genius but none of your are winning?

Like if you scroll up to the first page and you read a comment from LostOstrich....he says things like I nver do this and never do that...Hes an ABC break even player.....you can predict his play because he always does the same thing...he always makes the ABC play....make sense? once you know the the strategy of the masses you can use it to read them...thats why you learn all the styles...not to play like them but to read them...not to become one thing but to be everything
