over the last month since i've deposited i've been playing $2 + .25 sng's to work my bankroll up. after close to 100 sng's my ROI is sitting at 36%, which is alright.
i ran into a nice little cash injection for my BR today (i won a wsop fantasy freeroll ) which bumped up by BR to just under $300 - 3x what i deposited. it also means that based on my BR rules i can move up from $2.25's to $5.50's.
my only "worry" (if you can call it that) is that i didn't win my way up entirely playing sng's, so im not sure if im ready to tackle $5.50's yet. so my questions are -
1. how much better/different is the play in 5.50's to that in 2.25's?
2. with my ROI based on a relatively small sample space, do you think it's time to move up? |

Simple answer. Yes, move up to the $5+50c level now. You have enough of a BR to tackle it and the play is not much different to be honest. You may get a few less donks, but I kind of of like that when it gets to the sharp end of the table being able to range people more accurately.
Worst case is that you lose some cash and have to move back down to the $2 stakes again. Just stick to a BR plan. If your BR is ready for a move up then make it, and if you lose some move back down. Don't be scared to move up because you're worried about the skill difference. |

I think Kam is right on here. Give it a shot, if you run bad you can just step back down.
I doubt that the skill level will be a huge increase.
The 100 games isn't a great sample size but it is enough to show that you have a clue about playing SNG's and it is worth stepping up. |

%36 ROI is a lot better than just 'alright', it's great, so don't be too disappointed if you see it drop a bit as you play more sng's.
It sounds like you're crushing the $2 games and you have the BR for the $5 games, so I'd definitely give them a shot. In my opinion, you won't find much of a skill difference between the two, if any. If you lose a few and it makes you uncomfortable, then move back down until you think you're ready again.
Also, congrats on the tournament win. Good luck. |

If you multi-table (let's say 4 tables), then mix in 1 or 2 $5 SNGs, along with the other ones at $2.
Even that your ROI is absurdly high, it seems that you'll have no problem beating the $5 level.
Be prepared to drop back down if your BR is <$200 |

Actually, you get in the bankroll of 50+ buy-ins for the 5.5$ sit & go's. If you can keep this up your bankroll will go up to 50 buy in for the 11$ sit & go's.
With this bankroll you're only 'risking' about 2% and you can play comfortably at the stakes you're willing to play.
Once you're bankroll drops down to 25 buy-ins, move a level back, the ones you have been playing very well so far with that ROI and try to build it up again. It takes a lot of patience and time, but if you do this right, you'll be playing at bigger buy-in in no time.
I've been playing the 5.5 sit & go's for a while and to me it seems that this is more like a learning school for most s&g players, there aren't that much players that go all in before the flop, more deception, but the play is not that sophisticated and rather straightforward. I took a shot at the 11$ today (played 4) and what i've seen there, man, when the second blind level came up, there where already a few players gone. All in with 33 - AJ and stuff while there stacks where well M25+ |
