I don't understand the check on 5th street and the check/call on 6th street. You still likely have the best hand with the better 2pr draw. Bet it or check/raise.
6th street you have to raise imo. With aces up, you are likely way ahead here. If he was going hearts, you have alot of them and the critical ace showing. You are a huge favorite as well over any 2pr or straight draw.
If you are at all nervous about his hand strength, then why bet 7th? It contradicted your 5th and 6th street play. Unless you are trying to induce a call by representing low.
My typicall line on a hand like this is bet 5th-7th, or against specific players, check/calling 7th. Against certain players, I'll occasionally go for a check/raise on 5th or 6th, but it's very player specific. |

| I played it the way I did because it was obvious to me that he was on a high hand to begin with. My hand looks like a low draw so when I "brick" on 5th I wanted to keep that illusion up under the assumption that I get more value out of his mediocre high hands than if I continued to bet and he quickly realized I had a high hand and maybe folds. I kinda did this on the spur of the moment without thinking it through and posted cause I thought it might lead to some interesting discussion. The reason I led 7th was because I didn't want him checking behind with a lot of his mediocre high hands. |

I've tried to get out of the habit of this "trickery", especially heads-up. And I advise against such plays now. Most players there aren't thinking about much more than their own hand and bets can be lost because of this.
If you checkraised 5th or 6th, I'd almost guarantee you will get a call through 7th. The reason I made the remark about 7th was a roundabout way of pointing out the contradiction. I like the bet for value. Value that that had the possibility of being lost on 5th street and 6th street.
Look at it this way. Most good players will not chase anything high(even pp)vs. a completed ace. Most good players will not bet into a 3 flush showing w/low draw on 6th. So you are likely facing a bad player. Bad players will sometimes check here behind, losing significant big bets, but will call most bets. Playing it straightforward against bad players will usually achieve more BB's than trying to trick a bad player. Advanced play is not necessary when playing bad players.
*FWIW_ I'm a huge fan of the concealed high/appear low type hands. I just feel the plays required to achieve this are best saved for more advanced opponents. |

On 5th your hand is somewhat fragile since you only have one pair. You would rather bet Aces and win the pot right there.
Another problem with not betting is that if your opponent is on a flush draw or a weak pair, he will check right behind you. So it could be disastrous if he gets a free draw to hit trips or two pair and ends up winning the pot.
There is also a more subtle reason for betting here. You want to play your split aces and 3-low with an Ace door the same way. Thus you might win the pot on 5th next time you have 4 low cards and a brick on 5th.
6th - Bet, again don't want to give any free cards.
7th - Depending on the opponent a check might be better but betting can't be too wrong since you are blocking his flush with your hearts and his broadways with your two tens. |
