I had to shut down early today. My draws weren't coming, my bluffs weren't working, then this.
The villian was typical for this table; semi-reckless; low pairs, suited one gappers, suited face cards, Ax, etc, willing to chase, and not seeming to care about position or what anyone else was doing. In other words a target rich environment.
I was getting clobbered by the chasers, so I decided to tighten up, then strike at the right opportunity.
I so wanted to trap somebody, and probably would have abandoned this hand had a face card flopped.

You had him beat on the turn, so it was correct to go all-in. Just a very unlucky river card for you...  |

That's terrible man, i mean, you played it perfectly, can't see anyone folding the nuts when its a boat. I don't know what it is but before last week it seemed like this barely ever happened..to me at least.
I've had some of these...a lot of these (not 1 outers, but close) happen in the past few days. I don't have the scripts but 1 was AA vs AQ with a 3bet to all in preflop. Flop comes KJ10 and I'm out there (was a $75 18 player SnG where the top 5 get $216 tourney dollars. I got all the way up there with an initial $8.80 so it didn't feel AS bad but i was still pissed. Another was in the same type of tourney (had 2 $75 tokens that started from $8.80) had KK in BB, re-raised a button raise and he called. Flop came 242 so I bet the pot, he calls, turn is a 4 (this is a freaking $75 tourney too) I check he bets 1/2 pot so I push and he shows Q4. Not trying to steal your thunder but I had to vent, my stack has been jumping and dropping like it was being shot at. AQ vs J10 just now, flop is AQJ and the guy is all in preflop (single table $10 SnG 9 handed and the guy pushed with J10, so w/e). Down to 6 outs on the flop and he hits the K on the turn and another on the river. Not as bad as your beat or the other 2 i had, but hurts as much =( |

| Yeah this is obviously a really brutal beat but the rest of the hand doesn't look like winning poker. |

Boomer, were you the hero in this hand, or is this post you portraying some sarcasm? No offence, but I would have played it quite differently.
I would have made it $1.50 PF. Assuming he calls, I would have made it say $2.10 on the flop. I would have raised all in on the turn as well.
Obviously makes no difference to the end result really, but at least you know you can have done your best. I really do detect there is a reason for this post......  |
