Could use some advice if anyone has ever run into this before....
Our weekly cash game ( .25/.50 NLHE ) has been derailed by a few extremely loose "maniac" style players. The experienced players who understand odds & betting are losing to a few ultra-loose players who call everything. Very few hands hold up when 3+ other players are hell-bent on seeing the river. The same player doesn't always win but one of them usually does. We know they aren't "working together" but they may as well be.
The reasonable players are frustrated with the game and say it has deteriorated to coin-flipping. I can sympathize (some of these beats have been really awful) but I am not ready to give up. We should want terrible players in our cash game right???
I'm curious if anyone has dealt with this before and has any tips for beating these maniacs. We did consider raising the stakes but it would price some of our favorite players out so we want to avoid that.
Ideas? |

wait to play the premium hands? ask em to stop playing like retards? ask em not to come to the game?
if its a multiway game as u say id see alot of flops with suited connectors and low pairs hoping to catch a set/flush quick on the flop and take their money fast....after a few big hits they will either slow down or go broke... |

First, i consider "Maniac" to be a legitimate style. Not my style but it does work for some. They win either by good post-flop play, or intimidation, or both.
I can think of only two ways to play them. (1) loosen up, widen your range and play poker. They won't win every pot, and (2) when you do get a premium hand, come over the top and make em pay to play. |
