| Well I didn't know whether to post this in the SNG section or the Omaha section. I figured I would get better info here. I have been playing a lot of Omaha HU SNGs lately. I play very well, and if we only started out with 1000 chips each, I might win every one I play. I have almost the opposite challenge as I do in Holdem HU SNGs. In my holdem HU matches, I am very good at dominating the short stack and ending it. In Omaha, it is easier for me to get my opponent short stacked, but harder for me to finish things off. I would say that I have my opponents down in the 300-500 chip range in about 75% of the matches I play. But I also think that in the end I only win about half of my matches. The switch from NL to PL really becomes evident in this part of my game. Any tips to adjusting to this? Should I considering tightening up my pre-flop game and just wait for good cards instead of trying to be an imposing force?? Thanks for any help... |

Be more aggressive postlfop than preflop, you don't need to commit alot of chips preflop when the blinds are big because the pot will already be built for a bet on the flop. of course you can always bet your strong hands, but i would suggest limping with pairs and raising with drawing hands with big cards, and if he checks to you, it is probably a good indicator he is weak and you can bet him off of it.
so the keys to closing out a plo hu most of the time is good post-flop play because almost all preflop play just sets up the postflop play and shouldnt give away any strengh of your hand.
Also, if he comes out betting on the flop when he is shortstack he is probably strong, there is no need to double him up with a weak hand. If you play a tight opponent and he rarely raises preflop, then you can fold to his raises with marginal hands. if you are playing an aggressive opponent that raises alot preflop then you can reraise him and cbet and win alot of the times on medium card flops or if an ace comes out or something like that. vs passive opponnents you need to tone down the bluffing and wait them out since you often dont know how strong they are and they may call you down on your bluffs, or you will have to fire 3 bullets which is risky. |
