*this is a duplicate from another forum I post at, just trying to get feedback*

So I'm playing the 6-max LHE event. Starting stacks are 3k. Blind levels 15 mins. I'd like to get some input on what you guys think would be the best way to play this. The last one had 1057 entries.

I'm leaning towards playing the first hour lag and trying to amass chips so that when I play pots after the first break I'm not in position where I need to win the pots I play or get crippled. I know it's LHE and you're saying the amassing chips thing isn't really viable but it does work especially building big pots before the flop there-by giving proper odds to draw at hands, it also allows me to get rid of hands when they don't flop a big draw, 2 pair, trips, ect.

The good of that is I can build a nice stack and coast around for a bit the bad would be going out early.

Now on the flip side since it's 3k starting stacks I could just sit back and let the other players who are sure to be playing the lag game as well do my betting for me. This can work if the top tier hands I play hit and hold. If they whiff I could still limp into the second hour with enough chips to recover.

The good I'll be sure to stay in longer and it keeps me from trying to make "plays" at people. The bad would be it forces me to hit the hands I play. Although as I said the other lag players will do my betting for me when I do hit.

I'd like some of your guys thoughts.

I'm not thinking of a specific strategy in advance as table conditions will dictate style to a certain degree, if I'm with 4 LAGs then I will probably tighten up and let them do the betting for me, although widening my 3bet range. If I'm with tighter players then I'll probably loosen up quite a lot, and widen my raising range.

3k starting with 15-minute levels is pretty deep, unlike the regular $26 tourney which has 1500 starting and 10 minute levels, time is definitely on our side for this one. 6max requires more aggressive play than the standard FR version of the tourney.

And regarding the strategy of trying to amass a big stack. I dont like this idea much as you probably won't get more than 1500 chips worth of value from it, and that aint much when the bets get to 100/200 or 150/300 and the chips start to fly. Not worth the risk IMO.

Yeah I am basically talking first hour strat. As for the Lag play not being worth it. When it hits, it is well worth it, for example the 3k, I've gone into first break sitting at 7k+ multiple times. With this it is a bit diff though there will be more hands played and relatively speaking the pots will be smaller because of the 6-max. When I play a lag game to start it's about loading pots early in the hand so that I either have proper odds to draw or if I hit a made hand my opponents draw with weaker hands because of the pot size. So basically I can lose say 10 of those pots but winning 1 out of 10 is all that's needed to build. It's well worth it if it works.
