For this thread yes, I am slick Bobby.
Diamond seemed a little LAG but that was in the other games. Not much to go on for Stud8.

3rd: Raising with a premium hand, good play
4th: I don't like it. You're representing the A. You happen to HAVE the A, so it's not all bad. Dayl is the pivot here. If he's a passive player, your bet makes sense. If he's scared and would fold a pair, it makes sense. If neither of these is true you should check it, see 5th st and re-evaluate.
5th: I really don't like it. Dayl's the other guy with chips, LAG in stud8 or not, he's got SOMETHING. He's showing 3 to a straight and 3 to a low. What are you planning on if he raises? At best your chips are going in volatile. This isn't a cash game to pound for scraps of EV so let them tell you about their hands (if he checks behind you, he may have a big wired pair, or just be passive in this game).
6th: After all that betting, with them agreeing that they're chasing, now you check? OK, chief may have made a flush. Isn't it worth finding out now? Unless you plan on folding to a bet which, given the size of the pot, doesn't seem right either. Are you planning to fold to set up a play when the antes get really high? If so, whew, 15%? Seems awful high. My thinking is partly that Dayl's presumptive low is protecting you here. If I'm chief, I have a rough time calling with a hand like Queens up. Moreover, in the event he raises he's raising you (Dayl needs to have about 86 down to fold here), making it an easy laydown.
7th: Yup, I like the fold. They may be competing lows (which fits the action), but it's not worth 2 bets to maybe chop. |
