Good article from Poker King: http://www.poker-king.com/poker-king-articles.php?article=632

One thing he doesn't mention is miniFTOPS. IMO, that is another reason for poor turnout in this FTOPS.

I know this is getting cliche but is it economy? Possibly everyones wising up and saving their money for bills and emergencies. People have either had their hours cut back at work or lost their job all together. If they have been fortunate to keep their jobs, the fear of losing it still sits in their mind. Why take a chance spending $200 on a poker tourney when I'm gonna need it to get me through life for 1 month?

If this keeps up for a whole year where they don't get near the gaurantees then I vote that they cut FTOPS down to once a year. It'll bring back the prestige and excitement of playing in them. Also, Full Tilts bank account won't take so many $40K or more hits when not enough players want to participate.

Oh yeah, I agree the minis could be a big culprit. Like I said who wants to spend $200 on a tourney when they're gonna need it for something more important. Spending $20-$50 in a tourney is easier to take.

Pretty sure FTP can afford plenty of $40k hits when in exchange they get to turn hundreds of microstakes players into med-high rollers for a few weeks. Plus they still get the rake off each tourney anyway.

no question there but still,
the whole point of FTOPS is to win big moneyin a matter of weeks rather months

look at the WCOOP, it generates huge profits for pokerstars

full tilt gotta lower their guarantees or even just do 3 FTOPS a year
every 4 months seems okay to me.
also miniftops have seriously damage the ftops, the idea is gr8 but i think it should happen at different months

letsn say ftops, 2 months later miniftops, and so on

they didn't do enough advertising imo.
I personally didn't know the FTOPs were coming up...I don't check my email often, but do they send out a newsletter announcing FTOPs events? That'd make some people aware.

Yeah, but i think the entry fees for the MiniFTOPS are making up for the overlays in the FTOPS, so it all works out about the same, other than the fact that FT is running more tournaments at the same time. But the Mini FTOPS will also attract more players to the site.

Yup ... and from all those satellites, for both FTOPS and miniFTOPS. I doubt Full Tilt's hurting.

I think Ftopsmini is awsome but i think it being at a different time would help make up for some of the money they are losing. I doubt full tilt is hurting but when it comes to money its More's Law alot is good more is better.

Its just overkill IMO, they run it too often. Twice a year would be fine.

They could use other gimmicks in between these to attract the rake.
