So I've been playing for a while at several different sites (Full Tilt, Bodog, PokerRoom, PokerStars, Doyle's Room) at I'm sitting it a Sit and Go at Full Tilt when I suddenly find myself thinking "Why is it that I always seem to have a tougher time here than anywhere else I play?"... then it occurs to me, "My, this tournament is going fast..."

So I do a bit of looking around and find that the Sit and Go levels at FTP are only 6 minutes long.

Compare this to PokerStars' and Bodog's 10 minutes and I suddenly realize I am getting ripped off at Full Tilt. Same fee to play, tournament is 40% shorter.

I haven't had time to get back to the other rooms to check their level lengths, but I would take odds that Full Tilt is significantly shorter than any of the places I play.

So then I look at the tournament lengths and find that all (non Sit and Go) tournaments have 10 minute level lengths... Better than the Sit and Go, but still only 66% of PokerStars' and Bodog's 15 minute levels in full tournaments.

Shame on you, Full Tilt... is that really what you need to do to make money? Rip your players off for shorter playtime?

Yeah, I realize some (not very smart) players like shorter level times (it does a good job of evening up the skill levels), but many sites offer "Turbo" or "Speed" style tournaments for these players at reduced entry fees. The Full Tilt System is just plain less value for your money. I am appalled.

Ok. 1)you're actually not, on average, paying more per hand in blinds at FT then at poker stars, because while the blinds go up more often, they dont go up as much. At other sites, the blinds may double, while at FT they never jump by more than 40%. 2)Maybe you're paying for a certain set time of entertainment, but I want to win money, as quickly as possible. Full Tilt allows me to do this. I win consistantly at the SNGs here, so clearly teh skill element is still there.

Urban, did I miss anything?

Loother,

Looking at the six minute levels can be deceiving. Like Jaconda said, we use gradual blind increases, so that no single player is at a huge disadvantage when the blinds go up and he is the next big blind.

If you take a look at other sites sit-n-go's after they have been running for an hour, and you will see that Full Tilt's players will have bigger stacks in relation to the blinds than most other sites.

If anything, our levels are too long given how gradual the increase is, which is why many players have asked that we develop a "Turbo" sit-n-go.

Laughing
Shorter SNG times means more money made. Even the FTP SNGs are a bit long for me.

I have to agree with Tilterdoug.

It seems like later in the tourney on FT the blinds are smaller relative to the chip stacks than on other sites. (At least the ones I have played at).

I know a friend of mine that recommended that I try FT said he likes FT tourneys because they start with more chips than on most of the other sites. I actually like the lower starting chip stacks. Certainly with lower starting stacks you're still going to have wreckless chasers; but if you start with more chips you sometimes can chase a draw and if you miss you will still have a fairly decent chip stack to make a comeback.

Every tourney format has its advantages and disadvantages. The trick is getting used to them and adapting to them. Ask a lot of the pros and they will tell you that a well rounded poker player is a better player.

This post just cracks me up.... I have always played for a longer amount of time on FullTilt SnGs vs those other sites I regularly play... The FullTilt system allows for more skill to be used, UB PS and PP have shorter time to use your skill over the whole length of the SnG.. Though I admit I like to play the faster paced All-In types for the excitment...

I think the regular ones could use one level cut out but that makes it not as even as it was before, maybe the 120/240. Just looking for more $/hr.

First post here...

I had previously been playing SNG's on PP for several months before switching to Full Tilt. I made the switch b/c the format FT uses seems to be much more beneficial for the solid player. PP gives you 800 chips to begin play with, and after 30 hands the blinds are 50/100!! Although with FT you only play between 5-8 hands per level, unlike the 10 per level on PP, the blinds increase at such a small rate that you're not forced to risk your entire stack on one hand if you don't wake up with something worth playing for the first 30 hands. With only 800 chips to start play with, it makes it almost impossible to re-raise without going all in. It becomes more of a crap shoot than anything.

Also, the larger amount of chips in play makes the heads up at the end more enjoyable. I've been heads up for over 45 mins on FT, with enough chips to adapt to my opponents style of play. On PP, i spent most of the heads up play praying that my K6 would hold up against my opponents Q7 since both players are forced to push with anything close to a face card.

Hope my success here continues, GL to All!

I think I get more than 8 hands per level. Not sure. Next SNG I play, I'll keep an eye on it. I'll get back to you by tonight with avg. hands/per level for at least 2 SNGs.
