oh yeah. But be carefull of all the calling stations in low limit razz tables and early in a tournament when you can't chase a guy out of a pot. Twisted Evil

When the antes increase, I will often complete with a hand like (5 5) A if there are a lot of high doorcards behind me. This is a viable move and if you don't have it in your arsenal, you won't pick up enough pots to stay ahead of the ever-increasing antes. Another time I might try to pick up a pot is if I have low cards showing, and I pick up more low cards that pair my down cards. For the most part though, I usually try to wait for the best hand or the best draw before I put my money in the middle.

You have to pick your spots carefully, but executing bluffs can sometimes become really profitable if

1. You know your opponent well(Tight, Loose, Passive, Aggressive)

2. You show enough strength on your board against strength to push a strong hand or your opponent shows enough weakness.

3. Your table image to that point.

I rarely seem to pull off bluffs in low cash games or early stages in tournaments, but that's not the time for them anyway. Late stages in tournaments where more money or winning is on the line and the cost is that much higher is where you can execute more bluffs. For example against a player I knew I could push off hands in an MTT The game was three handed. A player with a King folded a player with a 9 up completed and I with Q Q in the hole and a 2 up called(with the intent of pushing him off should he brick)

4th
Q Q 2 3
x x 9 T

I bet again and got called

5th
Q Q 2 3 8
x x 9 T J

I bet again and my opponent folded. I showed him that his Jack Low would have crushed me. It's just about timing, represented strength, and player image.

I think it's been explained pretty well so far. In my opinion its better to bluff early - that way, even if you get a call, your opponent might fold on a later street because they catch a brick or you catch a scary looking board.

Of course, sometimes you'll be bluffing with the best hand - like when you have [Q-J]-2 and your opponent calls with a king showing. It happens blissfully often.
