So, the only thing i can think of is that when i check the turn and he bets almost half his stack, that i could perhaps fold there. problem is, at these stakes, that could be AK or worse, or i thought maybe two pair, to which i have a few extra outs if it were that instead of trips. his limp-call should've made me think too. and, it was only like 10 hands in, so i didnt have a good read yet, either.
anyway, the question is, how do you experienced players keep from "overplaying a pair?" how else could i have played this?
thanks in advance |

| I honestly don't see how you could've gotten away from your hand on that flop. With the way the hand got played, it would seem your opponent was likely holding AK, or maybe even getting overly aggressive with a flush draw. It's hard to put him on 2 pair, b/c k9 or something seems unlikely to call a raise preflop-most of the time. You just ran into a set, and are meant to lose some chips on that hand if your ace doesn't come on the river. I think you have to have an amazing read on your opponent for you to feel that your two aces were behind. |

| Only way you could have folded that was thinking he had a set of 7's. Odd play with the Kings, unless you've seen him limp-call with big pairs before theres' no way you're folding that. |

Tough break. I would probably reraise the flop instead of just calling. But like you I would have lost my stack, not much you can do.
(A cash game is a different story, but here in a tourney, you're almost always going bust.) |
