I opted to play a 30+3 SNG with Urban, and the following is one of my better hands. Urban often plays more than one SNG at a time, and it doesn't allow him to play quite as many pots as I do in the early going without premium hands. While his strategy is a proven and successful one, here I'm trying to prove that playing a lot of pots early on can be successful too. Urban almost never goes out worse than 5th, while I probably have earned more than my fair share of 9ths. However, much more often than not, i come out of the first couple stages with a big stack. Urban says that all it takes is one double up, and he's right... I prefer to find mine early on, when I can take lots of flops. Here's to showing that an aggressive strategy early on can work too:

I love to play pairs in position, because I feel confident going forward with them when overcards hit the board. I don't necessarily reccomend this strategy, but I DO reccomend doing whatever you feel most comfortable doing. I opted to call this, and I was aware that I would probably get at least one more caller from one of the blinds. Beside the fact that I can hit a set and win a big pot, I also feel like there's a chance I could bluff the pot depending on the circumstances. This was pretty much the best flop I could hope for. I knew that justmor was going to come out betting here, whether he had a ten or not. I was a little worried that WRONA could be in there with a ten, so my plan was to raise justmor, but leave myself enough to get away from the hand if either player re-raises me. After I saw him bet 120 and not 210 (which was the pot size), I felt good that he didn't have a ten. If WRONA isn't in this pot, I probably raise to more than 360, but I like doing it because I feel like I can get called by a worse hand. A lot of players don't like to give up two overcards to a small raise, and I exploit that here. Personally, I thought my raise looked sort of weak on the flop... I wanted it to look that way, as I was pretty confident I had the best of it and I wanted action from worse hands. After he called me and didn't re-raise, I knew that I had the best hand, and I was going to play this hand all the way. When he came out firing for 660 on the turn, this didn't worry me at all, as the turn card probably gave him a gutshot with an ace in his hand. So I moved all-in and was surprised to see a king to go with the ace. I expected to see AJ or A9, but I was fairly certain I had the best hand.
As I said, often times, a crafty player can bust me in the early stages even if I don't have a powerful hand. If he was good enough to play a ten like that on the flop, then I give my opponent due credit. It was certainly possible that my opponent had me beat, but based by how he played the flop I felt it was unlikely. |

| No, I do normally wait quite a bit more but that doesn't mean I don't plays in pairs in position and limp pots and raise pots in position w/ non premium hands. |

| That definitely was the best flop to turn cards you could hope for with pocket 5s |
