Hi...I've been reading this board for a while and the advice given here is great and has really helped my game. I just finished the 1:30 AM Freeroll tournament and was lucky enough to win it. I now have $5, and my question to you guys is, "how would you suggest I spend it?" Up until now I have played play money exclusively, but I play a fairly decent game. I am sure I have a decent shot at doing something with this money in the real money arena, but I'm not sure where to spend it. It seems to me if I were to sit at a $.05/$.10 NL Hold'em table, I'd be looking to pick up a good hand and double up as soon as possible, but if the cards don't come, the $5 will dwindle pretty fast. I was looking at the $1 MTT's and thought that playing five of those might be a better way to invest my money. Also I could maybe play a satellite. There seem to be some $4 + $.40 tourneys that are a satellite to the $25,000 Guarantee Tourney on Sept. 3 (It doesn't mention the tournament entry to the big one in the payout for those tourneys...they must enter you into it automatically if you win?). Well...just looking for your advice on what I should try to do and give myself the best chance to turn this money into something.

Thanks for your time,
BLS99

Play the ring games and get some money up. You can get a string of badluck in the multis/sit and goes and you would only have one shot.

Yup. Go play 0.05/0.10 until you have more cash.

I played in this freeroll too(my 1st on FT) and finished 9th, got busted when someone called my raise with AK with T8, flop KT8, and I probably should been able to get away from the hand, but I was about to pass out, I was tired(which is a lesson I suppose). I was eventually all in on the flop, and a turn T sealed the deal for me.

Anyway, congrats again BLS, don't spend it all on one table!

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm still not really sure what I'm gonna do with the money. Maybe I'll try to hold on to it and win some more in the freerolls. AceHigh...how was the $1 MTT? Was it like playing with play money or was it like a "real" tourney?

It defintely wasn't as crazy as the Free Rolls, but there still was some really loose play, but i would say overall that it was NOT as crazy as the FreeRolls

I might look into playing one of those $1 MTT. I sat down at a $.05/$.10 NL Hold'em table for a couple of hours this morning and turned my $5 into $12. Now I have a pretty decent amount of money to sit at those tables with to be able to play my game...but if I bust once...I'm done. The play at those tables was fairly loose, but passive (I expected much more aggressive play). Seems like a beatable game for a tight and aggressive player. I'd like to play some higher limits, but for now this will have to suffice. Thanks again guys.

It's the loosest tourny ever. I got knocked out by pocket aces. I mean, who the hell plays those? Sheesh.

Yeah, but so does ten bucks. You'd have to win quite a few free rolls to have a bank roll that can handle a few bad beats - even at the 5/10 cent tables.

About how many players enter the freeroll and what type of playing did you use to win it? I'm trying to learn.

FTP only allows 900 players in the freerolls...and they are usually full. Here's a link to a thread about winning freerolls:

To BLS, you recently said something about Andy Bloch. I busted him in a private MTT and didn't recieve anything. I'm wondering if you know how I get an autograph from him or something.
