3rd st I think is a definite call, no raise so as to keep people in for the action. 4th, huge card for me as the majority of my flush cards are sill live, however two 7's and two dueces are dead (neither of which are the spade, that's good). My reasoning for calling was the same, keep people in. I think had I been last to act a raise would have been acceptable. 5th, same deal unfortunately Itripalot folded. 6th, now I've made two pair to go along with my open ended straight-flush draw. I'm rather certain my opp is just playing naked aces. I decided to just call thinking he'd be more willing to pay off a bet on the river if I don't raise. If I had raised on 6th he's still checking 7th and prob not calling a bet w just aces against my scary board. So I think calling on 6th rather than raising got him to call the river bet. I'd appreciate any and all thoughts on the hand. Thanks! |

I wouldn't even think about raising before sixth street. And then sixth would have been no more than a speculative raise. He easily could have had aces up at that point.
I don't think a raise on sixth would have been bad. But I also don't think the way you played it is bad. It could go either way, depending on your gut at the time it was happening. |

| The more I've been thinking about it I think a raise on 6th would have been ok. I did feel at the time that he was playing dry aces only so a raise would have at least protected what I felt was the best hand. The more I've been thinking, the more I feel the raise is the more profitable long-term play as I can win the pot ouright if he folds. But if he calls I could have or make the best hand. I win another bet on the river when I improve and he has aces-up. Calling wins that bet + maybe one river bet. Raising has the same win/loose rate of that one bet with the potential for more. I realize my annalysis is a bit shaky, but I hope it makes sense. I don't think calling was bad, just could have been better. Still open to thoughts. Thanks! |
