|

I've got a question for those of who interested in playing the mutli-table satellites into the bigger ($100+9 and $200+16) tournaments on the site.
Right now, there is a $24+2 satellite running for the $200,000 guarantee tournament on September 10th.
28 players entered, so the first three spots are awarded a $200+16 entry into the tournament, and the 4th spot gets the left-over $24.
The turnout seems fairly low to me.
What are your thoughts on a payout that looks more like this:
1. $200+16 entry plus $6 cash
2. $200+16 entry
3. Three $24+2 tokens
4. Two $24+2 tokens
5. Two $24+2 tokens
6. One $24+2 token
7. One $24+2 token |

I am new to full tilt poker site and relatively new to poker (approx 1 1/2 yrs). In reviewing the satellite board, I was interested in accumulating tourney tokens that was not associated with any one tourney. This way I can choose when to play based upon my schedule or if my schedule opens up on any particular day. The new schedule does accomodate that desire somewhat and gives more of an incentive to play since there are more payouts. Maybe if you scale it down even more so that top 2% go to the big tourney and the top 10% to 15% get tourney tokens.
Or have more sit & go satellites for tourney tokens for any tourney. I do like your concept of spreading the wealth though and your revised structure is different and one that I like. |

I like giving away as many seats as possible Doug.... In fact, I even played in this tournament, and finished 10th. =(
Just by virtue of the turnout, there were just enough players to give away three seats, 4th place ended up LOSING $2.00. However, normally, there would be slightly less or slighyly more players, giving the player who finishes one away from the win still gets a sizable chunk. |

thanks for asking, doug. I, too, am new to FT, but have played a lot on other sites, so I will offer input based on my experience at other sites.
I joined FT specifically for the Borgata qualifiers. As far as I'm concerned, qualifiers are just that. It should award as many seats as possible.
Personally, I would like to see many more enter as well, as qualifying becomes somewhat easier when it's 20 of 180 versus 5 of 45. I know the percentages are the same, but it seems easier for me.
The extra should be awarded as cash, rather than tokens. Give me the option of what to do.
A related question: I qualified for Saturdays's $200+16 WPT satellite already. As I type, I am playing in another subqualifier ($24+2). What happens to my entry if I win again? Do I get to play two seats in Saturday's event ?
Does it turn into cash, or do I get a $200+16 token to use in one of the weeklies (or next week's WPT)? |

I agree with grip.
Give away as many seats as possible. |

Deeper payouts are good, but qualifiers are qualifiers. I don't think winning another shot at trying again is worth it as much as the seat itself.
Personally i'd like to see $10+1 qualifiers. I don't really like the $24. Anywehre else online you have cheaper ways to win into the big tournies. I'd rather take 3 shots at a 10+1 than 1 shot at a 24+2. Just my opinion. |

6. One $24+2 token
7. One $24+2 token |
I also would like to see as many seats as possible given, but in your example above of 28 players, 3 seats + 4th gets the "left over" $24, .. How about 4th gets a $24+2 token instead of $24 cash... Possibly no big deal ($2) to FTP, & 4th place at least gets to choose another $24+2 ...
In fact , I wouldn't mind if any "fractional seat" prizes (in a sattelite tourney), were awarded as , say 1 or 2 24 tokens +any leftover cash above 2 tokens , so an $83 winning place would be awarded as 2 Tokens + $35 .....
I would also like to see an occasional $10 + 1 satt, & an occasional Satt that awards $200+16 "tokens" .. to be used in the Tourney of choice .... |

I like Doug's idea.
I don't think almost 10% of entries should be rewarded a seat into a big tournament like that. You should literally win your way in. That's just me though. If it was me I would have just the 1st place rewarded with a seat and just pay the other places.

If you can't finish first in one of these tourney's you shouldn't be in the $200 tourney's |

Then why play a MTT at all? If you are playing for the seat, why force yourself to get through a field of 28, where if you can get through a field of 9, you win the same prize? The 24+2 SNG's award a seat, and to win them a player only needs to beat 8 opponents. |

Thanks to everyone for the input! What a great way to get quick feedback on an idea.
To answer sheg20's question, if you've won a seat to the $200+16 tournament, and you win a $24+2 satellite into that same tournament, you will instantly be credited $216 in real money.
There are people who play these satellites exclusively, and once they win their first seat, they continue to play satellites as if they were cash sit-n-gos. If you like the winner-take-all type of payout, that is a great strategy.
Regarding the original post, my feeling is that about half our players would like a flatter payout with a better chance of cashing (or breaking even), and the other half would like as many seats awarded as possible.
As a solution, I feel like the flatter payout might actually solve both problems. Under the current payout, that tournament I gave as an example had 28 players and gave away three seats.
If the tournament had a payout similar to the one I suggested, there might have been more people willing to play it, and the tournament may have gotten 40 players instead of 28.
With 40 players, the tournament still would have given away at least three seats into the big tournament, and it would have paid out another 6 or 7 spots in addition.
So another hypothetical for the guys who like the current structure:
Would you rather play a 28 person satellite that pays:
1-3. $216 entry
4. $24
Or a 40 person satellite that pays
1-3. $216 entry
4. Three $24+2 tokens
5. Three $24+2 tokens
6. Two $24+2 tokens
7. Two $24+2 token
8. One $24+2 token
9. One $24+2 token
You have to outlast 12 more people to get the big seat, but you also just have to make the final table to break even. |

| I like JS13_TPS's idea. Cheaper satellites would be cool. Instead of $24+2, make it $12+1, or offer both. |

Doug, that's a tough choice, & I wouldn't really complain about either, but "generally speaking", if I enter a WPT or WSOP tourney, I want the best chance to get a seat, I enter other tournies for a larger # of payout places.
Another possible comprmise would be to "stretch" out the fractional seat $$'s into more places, giving a lillte of both.
I do like the idea of a place giving the winner Multiple tokens, & even seperate Tournies for Multi-token winnings only.
** PS: IF as you mention, a 2nd or 3rd win into the same $200+16 pays out as cash, can you add this to the "read Only" "General Questions" category of this forum, & to the FTP FAQ .....
.. & what if a person wins 2 12K pkgs , ... Cash also?? |

Hey blaster,
It works the same for the $12k prize packages. You would get $12,000 in cash if you win a second package to the same event.
Good idea to post it in the 'General Questions' folder... |
