The higher king would start.
From high to low it goes, spade, heart, diamond, club. |

Easy way to remember, both for razz and stud, is that low to high goes in alphabetical order:
Clubs
Diamonds
Hearts
Spades
Low brings it in in stud, High brings it in in razz. |

| Whoever is closest to the left, clockwise, of the button starts out. Suit doesn't matter. |

This is wrong. It is indeed by suit, as stated above. |

I don't think they guy made any comments that would lead us to believe he didn't know this was the razz section. The guy made a mistake about the rules as I am sure we all have at one time. Do we need to make him feel like crap for it? |

Well, considering the right answer was in front of him, then repeated, and he announced his answer like the two of us were both wrong and stupid, I don't feel sorry for him in the slightest.
If he said something more like "Wait, I thought action always started with the player closest to the button's left?" then I wouldn't beat him up for it. But if someone asked "what's 2+2", two people answer "four" and he comes in and says "no, it's five!" he's going to get teased for it. The way of the world. |
