I play omaha like a religion. if i have top set but theres a flush AND straight draw and have a caller and raiser, i would NOT reraise them at all, unless i really knew my oppenents on a 863 flop almost over half the deck can potentially destroy u. 10s, 9s, 7s, 5s, 4s, 2s all can make a possible straight. so basically u are hoping for a board pair or a paint card that does not give the flush. thats only 3 kings 3 aces, 3quenns 3 jacks and a board pair for 3 more cards.
u really only have 15outs minus the KJ u have and since u have no heart in hand the odds u win lower. so your 13outs, to there 28 possible outs to lose, so basically the way i look at it your a 2-1underdog to win the hand.
this is why your hand is a fold if u were not in bb, yes u hit the set, but with the flop that came, your k-j make your hand bad since u dont have any of their outs.
if i was in your position, i would of checked the flop, if they potted it u can call, since u were going to pot it anyways, this lets U see the turn for basically what u were willing to commit anyways, but now u have to pay more to see the turn, and basically if u call the raise u are commited to see the river, so a push is right.
but vulnerable hands like yours are better to see turns/river for cheap then to lead out betting. yes if u see a cheap turn and tighten up, u may not get anymore money out of them, but u will not lose as much either if u dont.
and dont forget, they may be holding higher pockets than 88, which may even give u less outs to win the hand. |
