I've had a really bad run of late and while I'm always getting better at avoiding tilt, I'm really being challenged of late. Playing heads up on micro limit (I'm starting from scratch) I beat this guy for two of his buy-ins of $2 (table max $5). Then once more he rebuys and I could not believe how lucky he was getting. For at least 20 straight hands I got outdrawn. I would have a higher pair than his one pair, then on the turn or river he'd make two pair. On the flop I hit a flush and on the turn he makes one with a higher card. This just went on forever and I felt so terrible because I couldn't even outplay him. With a flop of QQ7 I was constantly betting (bluffing) $1 or more on each street and he ends up showing 37!! And as I've already said, when I had the better hand he just came back over the top of me with his drawing.
The final blow for me in this heads up match was I had 35o and the flop came 367 rainbow. Nice drawing hand so I bet it, opponent called. Turn comes 5 and I hit my straight. I bet, get reraised, I reraise, etc. I figured he had the same as me so naturally I push all-in. He immediately calls and I expected a split or hoping he was on a crazy flush draw. He turns over 58s. The nuts.
I know you can't win every single game of heads up but when his cards are winning 90% of the time (and I don't believe I'm exaggerating) out of about 200 hands it really hurts your confidence, especially on top of my already bad run online that's been going on for so long now.
Still I have made some great plays today and got good hands in ring games, but when you finish in negative it affects your overall feeling of the session.
I guess I'm just going to have a short break and hope for better next time I play. Sigh. Thanks for reading. |
