I just watched the first installment of Celebrity Poker Showdown for this season. And I know...the poker is lousy. But for a beginner like me, its always handy to listen to Phil Gordon talk about "what not to do". He even throws out some great "tips and techniques" that can be helpful. So I watch, with notebook and pen in hand, hoping to learn something.
Tonight was a trainwreck. Johnny Fairplay was an embarrassment. Why do the producers have such icky people on the show? Do they really think America wants to see this schmuck?
Please tell me the table etiquette gets better in the upcoming episodes. I expect the game to be marginal at best, but the table talk was pretty bad tonight.
Congratulations for maintaining some sense of professional decorum during that mess.

I don't expect the play will ever get any better. These are at best poor amatuers. But it's not their fault. They aren't poker players. Simple as that.
On the other hand, I too love Phil Gordon's tips and whatnot. |

| On one of Phil's WSOP podcasts he mentions the show he was doing the voice over for was the most boring they have ever had (although he did not say which one.) I am guessing the reality stars one was not quite boring for Phil so there is another dog coming up in the future. |

| No way the play gets better unless they throw Phil Gordon in the game lol. He'd still lose, everyone goes all in every hand and sucks out. It's actually pretty fun to watch with Phil Goron giving tips and what not to do. You'll rarely hear GOOD PLAY! lol. I like to watch those stupid people going all in every hand, good time waster. |

| Didn't see most of it , but I did switch over to catch the hand that "Charla" played, where she made the nut straight, checked it & then threw it away in the face of a bet, not even knowing what she had !! ..... |

Why don't they get good celeb's to play, like player's who actually compete in the WSOP, like:
Toby Mcguire
Matt Damon
Ben Affleck
So far the only descent player they've had on was Jame Woods, and he hasn't had a good finish yet due to the calling stations/bad beats he runs into. |

| Tobey Mcguire doesn't like to be labeled a celebrity poker player, so I doubt you'll ever see him on one of those shows. |

Ben Affleck has been on the show twice I think(at least once). Also Eddie Cibrian seemed like a pretty good player when he was on. He was the guy on Tilt on ESPN. |

| Affleck must have been on an early season because I have never seen him on. They should bring him back. |

I know the post is old but I wanted to add:
Dave Navarro (guitarist from Janes Addiction, married to Carmen Electra) was a damn good player, and a gentleman to boot. Any of his shows are worth watching. |
