| Does anyone have any strategy ideas when the table is full of people who will gamble with just about anything? I play rather tight and conservative and it seems that everyone else will play 7-2 off suit and other junk hands. I will raise preflop to 4 or 5 times the big blind and they almost always call. It seems like they hit the flop more times than not. Maybe I am just going through an unlucky streak with cards. Any suggestions? |

One way to get some people out when you hold a big hand is raise maybe 6-7 times the big blind. If everyone calls your 4-5 raises make them pay more and hope for the best. Raising this much will probably thin the field. Or you can play a lot of suited connectors and see the flop cheap and hit something big. Or even throw in a raise with a 78s just to mix up your game and when you flop big, nobody will think you hit the flop (Because of your previous conservative play).
Hope this helps. |

| Anyone has a 3:1 chance of hitting the flop with any two cards. To play aggressively you just have to know that your opponent didn't hit. It doesn't really matter what you hold on most hands if you are willing to bet and your opponent doesn't hold a strong hand. If an EP raiser checks after the flop, he most likely didn't hit and will fold to a bet. My advice is to play your opponent more and your cards less. |

| In loose "gambler" games, the implied value of hands shoots way up. Try to open your starting hand range to include drawing hands such as suited connectors and small pocket pairs. These hands don't hit often, but if you can get in cheep, you have a chance of winning a huge pot with a huge hand. Once you do catch one of the top starting hands, make sure that you make them pay to try to catch cards. If a 4-5x BB raise isn't enough, try 6-7x BB. I've seen many low limit games (expecially homegames) where raises over 10x the BB were needed to thin the field. Just try to mix things up and find what works best for you. |
