I was just wondering what would be a good percentage of flops most consider about right to see. I know they say about 15% on holdem but you will most likely see a lot more in ohmaha 8. just kind of looking for a guideline to see if I am seeing too many flops or am about right. it seems like I don't see as many as most people I play with. Also is there a way to see your stats from the whole time you played on ftp? thanks.

About 30% tends to be a good place to be - not extremely tight, but it allows you to win pots from donkeys going for the nut low no matter what comes. Just make sure you have potential to scoop, not just take high or just low.

As far as tracking all of your hands, you would need some sort of software, such as the omaha version of poker tracker. I am not sure if this works for O8 though, I would assume that it does.

I like jacondas 30% but i would say 33.33% just because she is so text book.This way the math is easier!..........1 outta 3!Jacondas way is like 1 outta every 3 point blablabla hands.My ways easier,besides she just works here.

Just High can be a good starting hand because about half the time, due to the 8 qualifier, a low becomes impossible!

Question

Anyone know the true odds that by the river, there will be no low possible? Question

I think I read somewhere that there will be no low land 45% or the time does that sound right?

When playing four tables i like to see around 25% of the flops, because then I don't have to think too hard,

I'm always drawing to the nuts.

You lose out some value, but playing just a2 and four suited broadway cards is the way to learn cheap and get a feel

Some of the better players here can get away with almost 50% but the swings are higher and you need to be focused.

I second what SpaceDaze said. I have had my best sessions seeing about 25% of flops. I usually play .5/1$ PLO8. I'm a stud/hold'em player, O8 is my first split pot game but so far so good.

and your ability to read hands, etc., etc. If you never defend your blinds, people will always steal from you. If you always play the same types of hands, people will read you like a book.

beginners should play fewer hands than experienced players if it feels like your playing fewer hands than everyone else thats probably good. for beginers it is good to play by the "never leave home without it rule" which means no matter how pretty your hand is if it does not have an ace dont play. This means folding beauties like KK23 and KKQJ even if they are double suited but these playable ace-less hands are few and far between and hit very few flops. they require a strong understanding of the game to play profitably and you wont miss out on many monster pots by not playing them. About 29% of Omaha starters contain Aces so stick to the rule and youll end up playing 10 to 15 percent of the time

if you're afraid to play KK23ds or KKQJds ...especially in a limit game... seems Way to tight, even for a beginner.

i'm not a long time omaha player, but you can have some great flops with a hand like this. a flop of A57 with four to a flush for you would be a monster.

omaha is tough to read, but it seems like a lot of people who move from holdem to omaha don't want to use their poker knowledge/skill to play it.

i see a LOT of "trying to get lucky" players

it's funny when the entire table limps... then you get to limp with great odds... then when you "draw out" on them, they get all pissed
the average player limps more and there are less pre flop raises... or preflop raises with the "right" cards

but again, i've only played for a little bit.
