| I am trying to make a decision whether or not I will purchase Doyle Brunson's Super System II or Dan Harrington's Harrington on Hold'em book. I am much more of a tournament player and that is why I considered Dan Harrington's book. He has been the most consistent player ever in the world series of poker in tournaments. However, I know that Doyle Brunsons' Super System II book is supposed to be the ultimate guide. If anyone has read both books, I would appreciate if you could tell me which one is better for me to read. Once again, I play a lot of tournies. |

| If you are playing only no limit Texas Hold'em tournaments, get Harrington's books, both I & II. Their is a wealth of knowledge entirely about NL hold'em tournament play in those books. |

Although Super System 1 & 2 are AWESOME books, if you like to play tournament poker, Harrington on Hold'em I & II are by far the best and will more than likely pay for themselves in just a few months. Make sure you get them both, as well as book III which comoes out mid May.

super system is geared towards cash games, not tournaments, though doyle does occassionally bring up tournament situations... super system also has great sections on limit hold em, H/L split games, 7 card stud, and draw poker... if you want to learn about other games as well as hold em, this is the book for you...
if you only focus solely on no limit hold em tournaments, than harrington's books are the best learning tool for you... |

For tournaments.... Holdem, the Harrington books Vol. 1 and 2 are by far the best..
I would also add 'Tournament Poker for Advanced Players' by David Sklansky. Harrington actually references a few things in this book..
Good Luck! |
