Sahara great little tourneys and cheap place, plus $6.99 dinner buffet with players card, great to stay at if your looking for cheap rooms and plan on being in vegas for a while, say a week or longer.

Sahara buffet = violent bowel movements. Add the Sahara to the IP on the list of buffets to avoid. Unless of course, you're looking for violent bowel movements.

You can also find reviews (book reviews, room review, online room review) at [I am where there once was spam /Riddim] -- this is a free online community! Leave your own reviews too.

I am particular fond of Caesar's and now the Venetian for Vegas play!

Gotta find the full pay VP machines (might have to venture downtown for those) and the 3-2 blackjack tables. Also, gotta remember to bring my own McDonald's nugget barbeque sauce. Your guys sauce sucks.

Btw, not sure if it's mentioned here already, but check out cheapovegas.com. Great site.

BNS, on my Vegas trip last summer I went into almost every strip casino and never saw 3:2 blackjack. Downtown may be a different story, but plan on playing a lot of 6:5.

I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago for a week. Stayed at the Luxor. ALL their BJ tables were 3:2. Played BJ and Poker @ Luxor as well as at Excalibur. My G/F won a tourny @ Luxor! Woot! I enjoyed the Excalibur poker room...they had 2/4 limit were as Luxor only offered 3/6 limit. Both always had 1/2 no-limit. Went to the Rio and watched some WSOP play for a day..sat and watched the final table of the $10,000 Limit Hold'em event. Was a great time!

If you are interested in going to any of the clubs on the strip make sure you get your VIP ticket. Just hang out in the casino near the entrance to the club around dinner time and they almost always have a guy handing out VIP tickets. This worked at "light" in the Bellagio, "Tabu" in the MGM, and the club at Ceasar's, forgot the name. It gets you to the front of the line, which can be very long at the hotter clubs, and it usually gets ladies in free, guys free/or half price. Guys, make sure you have some ladies with you or you'll be waiting at the end of the line for a long time. Drinks are still very over priced, so get some free casino drinks in you before going.

I'm from the UK, but spent 6 months living out in vegas playing poker last year...

My favourite poker room by a long way was at TI.. not only the friendliest room on the strip, but also some of the softest cash games I found. Plus, the 1/3 NL game has a higher cap than most similar games on the Strip, at $500... The Tangerine Mixer mixed game is also great fun... If anyone plays it, PLEASE get one of them to deal Double Flop Omaha High Low... especially if Kurt is dealing, and when his head is suitably frazzled, tell him Jamie sent you Very Happy

IMHO, avoid the Bellagio like the plague (unless you need to play games that aren't offered elsewhere)... it's very very cramped, and you end up feeling a lot like a "number"... either that or cattle. Not only this, but the games are tougher than anywhere else in Vegas

The Venetian is easily the most comfortable, Opulent room in vegas, with gaps between tables big enough to push your (very comfortable) chair back and spin round 360... you know... if you wanted to...

The lateish (midnight or so iirc) tourney at the Sahara is probably the best value "small" tourney from what I remember, and with some REALLY weak play... could be a decent little bankroll builder that one...

I was also a big fan of the Rio - not the poker room, but the hotel itself - although this could just be cos staying there seems to be a bit of a lucky charm for me. (oh yeah, and you HAVE to try the fries at the All American Bar and Grill... mmmmmmm)...

Looking for good vegas entertainment

Taking the in-laws to vegas for their first time.

Would like to see a few shows, can't decide between Mystere and LeReve for a circus show.

Also trying to decide between "V" and Scinta's for a varitey show

On the comedy show side ? any suggestions.

Also will be touring Hoover Dam, any other sites to see as long as we are out and about? Plan to rent a car.

Also might as well add some good food recommendations.

Thanks

I believe The Producers is still running in Vegas. I'm not a theatre guy, but I did see The Producers, and loved it. I loved it so much, my name on many online poker rooms is Bialystock.

If you like stand-up, try the Comedy Shop at the Tropicana. Supposed to be the best comedy club in Vegas.

Anywhere you intend to play a fair bit get your players card. Especially Canadians so that when you hit a big one you have a much easier time getting the cash back the tax man takes. After you hit it go to the players desk and request a printout of the play on your card. Not sure if they give points on poker but i imagine they do since theres rake so no matter what you play give em the card. Only downside is you get inundated with junk mail asking you to come back and stay for free.
