i had this hand in a tournament:
Dealer: Pirate Prentice shows Q,9,6,5,2
Dealer: JennaLB shows J,7,6,4,3
Dealer: JennaLB wins the pot (310) with J,7,6,4,3
since two is lower than three, why didn't i win? am i missing something? |

Start at the top and work your way down. his/her Jack is lower than your Queen so they win.
always start at the top. if the top cards are the same go down to the next one and so forth and so on until one card is higher than the other. |

in that case, play any hand with an ace, you'll always have the nuts. |

Razz is a low only game, and you start from top to bottom of your FIVE lowest cards. So your Q,9,6,5,2 is your FIVE lowest cards and your opponents J,7,6,4,3 is their FIVE lowest cards. Now you start from the top of both yalls lowest FIVE.....Your Queen vs. Opponents Jack...jack being lower than your queen, your opponent wins! |

Y'know when I was young and foolish, I used to play HE now and again on another site. One day I sat at a table and was amazed at how many big pairs I was being dealt. If it wasn't a pair then AK or AQ at least once each. I kept making two pair or trips, but someone else usually sucked out a broadway straight on me. Then I looked closer at the title of the table and it said "Royal Hold 'em" (where only the T-A cards are used).
The moral of this sad tale is never play a game for money unless you know the rules. If this was a play money tourney, then god speed. |
