|
|
Lately im having a really tough time building a bankroll. Im looking into all sorts if ways to do it but i cant decide. ive looked into mulittableing and tried it on seperate occasions. The first time only multitabling 2 at a time and losing 6 games was a big hit to the bankroll so i went back to just 1 at a time and gradually got back that money. Then i decided to try it again and a succesfully winning money with and ITM of 50% for the 6 games giving me a 73.33% ROI. The next day i tried it again only to lose every game which lost me my profit from the previous day and also abit more.
Ive looked into playing cash games but as i never play cash games i dont feel comfortable with that idea but its something i really want to try but with my bank roll only being between 90-100 at the moment im not sure i will be able to play the cash games as ive read you need a minimum of 300 big bets to sustain variance. The main reason im trying to build my bankroll is so i can play tournements as they are what i really enjoy playing.
So how have you built your bankroll and do you have any useful tips for me to succed? |

| There isn't really any simple advice that will all of a sudden make it easy to build a BR. Get better at the game, play a lot and only play stakes you're rolled for. With your roll I'd probably be grinding $2 SNGs since you're not really rolled for anything higher. |

Read parts 1-4 (just click 'Next' at the bottom). I personally have used that system and NEVER gone broke 1 time since I started using it. I built all the way from play chips to where I'm at now.
And remember, the percentages that I list in those articles are maximum suggestions. Don't be afraid to play for maybe 2% on one table rather than 5%. |

I just wanted to add that building a bankroll does not have to just include winning at poker. Take advantage of as many promotions and bonuses as you can. Did you do the 1st time deposit bonus? Do you play during happy hour times to get more points? Do you qualify for iron man, and did you take advantage of the iron man bonus? Go to requests and click on the check my bonus offer thing once in a while. Even if you get a small one, its something. Use your FTPs to try and get tokens (the 1800 FTP SnGs where top 3 get a token are nice).
Unfortunately some of the promotions and bonuses don't cater well to just a casual player, but if you can put in a couple hours a day you can take advantage even at the micros multitabling. |

One strategy that worked for me was to play at the absolute lowest level of cash game until you can make about a $4-6 profit. Then, take that money and buy into a $4.40 SNG for a chance at a satellite token (1st wins the token, 2ns wins $10). Many times you won't win the token, but when you do, you can then try your hand at a larger $24 buy in and a larger winning potential. With smaller tourneys like the $24 45-person SNG you can win upwards of $400, and with the large MTTs, you could even win thousands all for the initial investment of the $4.40. It worked for me ! -Txstopsign |

| I've had some good luck on the heads up tables...good quick way of doubling up some cash!just don't do as I do and incerease your stakes by 200% each time!! also don't play the players I play...I don't know why people name themself after the avatars with a random number after it and never talk back (eg. rock2487289, monkey9809327409, BOT189898...ahem) .... funnily enough , the game is 50/50, as is my win/loss ratio. if you win one, STOP |

Maybe I'll show my newbness here too, but I'm pretty sure it's just an entry fee for a tourny. |

I don't see why this is in this thread, but you can win $26 and $75 tokens which you can use to play any $24+2 and $69+6 tournament/SNG, respectively. |

+1
It can be boring grinding in the $2 games, but it's also a good way to learn poker without risking too much of your BR (if you're new to the game at all).
Also, it's definitely possible to build up a BR through the $2 games. I turned a $50 deposit into $300 off mostly $2 9-mans. As I said, it can be boring, but the small gains do add up.
Good luck. |
