I don't get it. Hes obviously angry because had he not hit his set, he could have layed down the flop... I don't see anything joking here.

Yeah, i think he meant "why do i hit my effing set when someone hits a bigger set" He should have elaborated there.

I'm usually ready to blow off some steam too when i lose to set over set (ahem....three times in one day no less)

Yeah, I very much doubt he was joking. He hit a set on the flop and made a boat on the turn and lost the hand. Did you think he was going to type 'Golly gosh thats a shame! Still maybe next time!'

but im trying to induce a bluff here. i know the flush is possible and will crush me but i want the money. if he hadnt had the threes here he can still bet the turn figuring i was stealing preflop and gave the hand up on the flop.

It's pretty obvious that you're trying to induce, it's just a really bad idea here. You seem to be misunderstanding why though. It's not because he might hit a flush draw, it's because you'll get so much action on this board by just betting. If he has nothing you probably won't win much, so just get over that and focus on winning the most when he does have something.

After raising PF, i almost never slowplay the flop, mainly because my opponent expects me to cbet most anything. Your hand is still disguised by betting. As was already touched on, i hate checking here because if he checks back, now a scary turn can come (ie another spade). You're not necessarily scared he has a flush outright, but between you not liking the spade and him not liking the spade, you are bound to lose a lot of value, especially in this set over set situation.

The only type of situation where i might do it is if raise PF with a hand like TT and then get 3 callers. Flop comes Txx rainbow. I'll check OOP to make it look like my two high cards missed the flop and i'm not bothering to make a big cbet against 3 opponents with a high card.
