| I hear this term a lot used on ESPN and the WPT, etc. But it seems to me that "The best players in the world" are the ones who recieve the most coverage on the Poker TV shows. DOnt get me wrong, most of them are the best players there are, but I bet these shows could make a lot of people think anyone who made 2 or 3 final tables on the WSOP or the WPT to be one of "The best players in the world". There are a lot of players who are enver on the WSOP or WPT and are making just as much, if not more than Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, etc. Do you know any of "The best players in the world" that you didnt get introduced to by a segment on a WSOP or WPT TV segment? |

Read a book called "The Professor, The Banker, and the Suicide King"
Doyle Brunson, Chau Gaing, Jennifer Harmon, Barry Greenstien, Howard Lederer, Todd Brunson, Chip Reese, Phil Ivey, Ted Forrest, Gus Hanson and several others.
What ESPN considers the best in the world, and who the best in the world consider good, is often 2 different things. And usually the best play Limit Hold 'Em 300/600, 400/800, 1000/2000. Real Money, not T$ chips, or even higher.
I'd like to see those 10 at a 1 table 10k buy in live broadcast where we get to see every hand. Limit hold 'em, winner take all. I'd be DVR that thing for sure. |

Chip Reese. (Or did he play in that stupid Poker Super Stars thing?) Gotta love a guy who makes more in cash games than other top pros make in multi-million dollar tournaments. |

| I think that is the toughest part of making good money in poker, you have to be able to be loved(or hated) by everyone, and make a good name. That to me is as tough as it gets |

The greatest player is not necessarily the player who rakes the most money from whatever source and thus its not an easy question to give a definative answer to.
In fact its an impossible question to answer in any game of chance (yes there is a chance aspect to poker!!)
A player that wins big many times is not necessarily highly skilled or highly lucky, some players can read other players better than anyone else, just because they beat those players consistently and another player doesn't does that make the first player better, it may be that the second player beats the first player most of the time.
If you got your head round that last paragrah good luck
So how do we judge the best player in the world......
easy, personal preference!!
incindentally in my opinion I am the best player in the world
(only joking !! )

| the episode was talking about "the big game" featuring doyle, his son todd, ivey, reese, greenstein, giang, and a few others... this game pretty much features the best players in the world, BUT, there are certainly a few others like ferguson, chip jett, seidel, lederer, duke, and harmon... |
