Generally speaking, in the US, players cannot facilitate a game and receive compensation for doing so without a gaming license. There are also commonly restrictions on the amount of money that can be won/lost in a game before it goes from a "friendly home game" to being a "gaming enterprise."
There are ways to deal with these stipulations, however. I'm a member of a "card club" where the guy that runs the games does have a license. Each person who comes to play the weekly game signs up to be a "member", so if there was a raid, we're within the laws.
Back on-topic, a friend in New Zealand told me about a regular poker game that's held in a brothel. Gives new meaning to "I'm all in". |

That's a neat idea - I wonder if there's anything that stops the companies that offer a home "casino experience" from providing topless dealers? Of course, they may need to provide a bouncer as well. Maybe after jumping out of a cake at the Bachelor's Party, the stripper could sit down and start dealing a game.
I'll bet it would increase the amount of money that charities could raise with their "casino night" fund-raisers.
On the side topic - Most states in the US have a very general law that makes all forms of gambling illegal. The casinos, lotteries and church bingo games are usually exceptions that are written into the books. But unless you fit into a catagory that is expressly permitted the general rule is its illegal. |

Each state in the U.S. has their own laws regulating social gambling (as opposed to a gambling enterprise). In many states poker playing with friends for money is illegal, and in higher stakes games it is sometimes enforced and games get raided. Usually the penalties are just fines, but game money can be confiscated. In a few states the laws also apply to online play (sometimes explicitly), although I've never heard of that being seriously enforced.
In other states social gambling is not illegal. In most states it is illegal to collect a rake, act as a bookie, or otherwise conduct a gambling enterprise, even in the states where "social gambling" is not illegal. |

| Child endangerment- because their kids were in their house-- don't get it. Odds are if people come to your house- you would trust these people around the kids- maybe it's just me |

First, home games won't get busted for playing such small stakes in any state I know of.
Second, I doubt that explanation would hold up in any serious court - calling a handgun a cupcake is not going to keep you from getting convicted for armed robbery.
Still mildly funny, though. |
