About $3,000 would be the standard answer you'd be likely to get.
Of course, if you're planning on playing this for a living, you'd want a bigger bankroll (just so you can support yourself despite variance.) Also if you're not used to $5/$10 limit you'd want a larger one as well. |

| wow. That wasnt the deposit I had in mind for a first time. What limits would be good for a $500 bankroll? |

| for a $500 bankroll, i recommend playing at the .50/1 limits... you need to have at least 300 big bets in your bankroll, and having $500 for this level is more than enough... once your reach $600 and are able to maintain this amount, you can move up to the $1/$2 games... |

Of course you can play higher if you don't have a problem going broke. Bankroll requirements are usually conservative so that a good player should not go broke while playing for several hours a day.
If you play 5/10 limit every day, either you will make it to $3,000 or you will go broke. |
