I was dealt AA on button with 2 limpers. I'm short stacked and min raised preflop and one limper called.
Flop: AK7 rainbow,
Limper checks,
I bet 3x BB,
limper calls
Turn: 7,
Limper checks,
I bet 3x BB,
Limper calls
River: 7,
Limper bets 3x BB,
I reraise all in, had most my chips in pot already.
Limper calls shows 78os for four of a kind.
I had the absolute nutz until the river! Anybody think I should have played this differently? The limper is a pretty tight player and I never thought they would call my bet on the flop with a 78os in mid positon. I thought they had KQ with the call on the flop. The limper also knows I play fairly tight, so it really surprised me she called my preflop min raise. I had a sick feeling once she called my all in before she showed the cards. One of the sickest hands ever! |

I don't think so. You played an incredibly strong hand and got all your money in with it. There's no way imo you can put your opponent on the case seven on the river, his range with the hand as played could include any ace or king, and a lot of pocket pairs.
You were short stacked, and you lured your opponent into calling you with smallish bets until you were able to get all your chips in. Nothing you can do when your opponent hits runner runner for four of a kind when he had a one outer.
That said, the other player was getting the odds preflop to make a speculative call. The call on the flop is a little weird, but after that, obviously there's no way he's walking away from trips. |

Maybe you should have raised more preflop.
I agree you just got unlucky here, but with a min raise, one of the blinds and both limpers may have called, and when going to a flop 4 handed with AA, you really don't have that great of a shot at winning (only something like 60%).
The others folded anyway... but I was just giving some advice for the future. You want as few people in as possible when you've got aces. |

I agree here, although that wouldn't have helped on this particular hand. |

no offence but min raising there is really bad
min raising is giving a 78o decent odds to bust you if you raise properly pre flop and still get called then its just a sick beat
also you say you are betting 3x bb when you should be betting in relation to the size of the pot post flop
just my thoughts

I had the nutz until the river, so I was just trying to string them in and build the pot as I was short stacked. I was playing very tight preflop and would not get any callers if a did a standard raise there.
3BB was half the pot on the flop. and 1/4 pot on the turn. |

you had nutz to the turn not to the river...77 had u beat on the turn
as far as the way it played out after the flop i think you done a great job by getting them to chase when you were super strong. i do agree that in this situation a min raise preflop was probably not a good idea, although i think you did it simply because u were dying for action with a SS but still you are giving them a cheap shot at 2 pair on flop to stack ya. |
