So here's a new one.
Very early SNG (first hand maybe).
UTG raises to 120, UTG+1 calls, I call with JJ, button calls, big blind calls.
Flop comes three tiny cards.
UTG checks
UTG+1 bets about 300.
I push all in to get everyone out for 1100 more.
Everyone folds back to UTG+1.
UTG+1 thinks for a while, then calls with AK to hit his K on the river.
He then immediately berates me and tells me it was a bad push because he could have had AA, KK, or QQ.
Whatever... |

| lol. These three low cards, were they straight material? Would explain the AK call if so, two overs, with a straight possibility. Even though it isn't much, I could see a donk looking at AK and looking for any type of draw possibility when the board came. UL. |

Saw a similar tirade today at a cash table today:
UTG+1 raises to 3BBs
BTN calls
BB calls
Flop is something like AK7 two heats
BB checks, UTG+1 bets 2/3 pot, BTN calls, BB calls
Turn Heart (not sure what)
BB bets, UTG+1 raises all in, BTN folds, BB calls
BB: Q3 hearts
UTG+1: AJo
UTG+1 has a complete fit calling the BB a fish and berating his play, saying he's terrible, donk etc because is PF call.
I'll call those odds all day vs a donk who'll stack off with AJ on a 3-to-the-flush board in a 3-way pot. |

No, they were babies... something like 347.
I don't understand how he can berate me though. I'm thankful he called though, because he's probably the kind of guy who makes that same play game after game... and these are the kind of people who keep my wallet fat. |

What level SnG? I haven't seen one yet where the first hand was normal. People seem to be willing to do just about anything on the first hand.

Yeah, I know it was a horrible call, but telling him off does nothing but teaches him to start playing good poker. If he is going to berate me for losing with the better hand, then I'll let him. No point in getting frustrated about it.
I just thought it was kind of funny how he said I was the donkey when he called the all-in with A high. |

| There are plenty of people who seem to think that AK is an all powerful "made" hand... |

+1.
I'm convinced AK is the easy winner for "hand people are most likely to misplay after the flop."
I've seen a lot of players bet, raise, reraise, re-re-raise and everything else with AK after it misses the flop.
I personally think that since AK is a big hand preflop and there aren't any "obvious" foils (like when you get to the flop with QQ and the flop comes AKrag, it's not hard to fold the queens to serious betting), people push the hand way too hard, thinking they "deserve" to win with the hand, even if they miss the flop. |

Doyle Brunson said it best in Super System.
The big difference between AA and AK is this:
AA is likely to win small pots and lose big ones
AK is likely to win big pots and lose small ones
The REASON AK is so damned good here is because it is (or should be) easy to fold if you miss the flop. Only when you're able to let it go will you be able to turn a nice profit with AK. I know it is my personal favorite hand. If you miss the board and somebody pushes, there is really no thinking involved... but many many people do not understand this concept. |
