|
|
I started heads up with a 2:1 chip deficit.
His plays have been aggressive. He reraised my PF raise 3x before. He would typically fire at least two bets after he was the PF raiser. He did have a habit of checking down his medium-weak paired hands after the flop c-bet. He bet out every flop since heads up started, regardless of who the PF raiser was.
The one thing that was different this hand: his bet size increased. He typically 1/2 pot or less every hand thus far.
Poker Stars, NL Hold'em Tournament, 100/200 Blinds, 2 Players
-
BB: 6,960
Hero (SB): 6,540
Pre-Flop: (300) A 5 dealt to Hero (SB)
Hero raises to 400, BB raises to 1,000, Hero calls 600
Flop: (2,000) Q 4 A (2 Players)
BB bets 2,000, Hero calls 2,000
Turn: (6,000) 6 (2 Players)
BB bets 3,960 and is All-In,
Call or fold? |

| I'd probably shove the flop. Call the turn now imo. |

I did consider that, however, he folded to my flop raise, but always bet the turn when I did just call.
Another factor was his bet size, that's what confused me most. By the turn I am really considering that he really does have a hand. The all in bet was pretty fast too. There wasn't much thinking time before the bet was made. |

You just said it...
He always folds to your flop raise but always bets the turn when you just call... and you just called.
Did you just call planning to fold the turn when you KNEW he was going to bet? You should stick with your original plan here and don't second guess yourself. If he's got you, then so be it. |

| My feeling is that you are ahead here, and he's trying to push you off. I rarely fold top pair HU unless I have a really solid reason (and a scary board) to fold it. From the way this hand has played out I would have to call against an aggressive player. HU is mostly about patterns, and once I see a strong pattern I follow it. If your beat, your beat. I am surprised by the number of hands where I say to myself "I gotta see it" and my hand ends up being good. |

| Call/call is so standard here. Why are you minraising pre and calling the 3bet though? |

I usually minraise heads up on the button since reading HOH2. He recommends the minraise in there. The reason I was calling his 3 bet is that this player has been using it too often. It didn't necessarily mean a strong hand.
Thanks for the answer though. I did call, however, after the game, I was questioning whether that call was right. |

| The important thing that you should be asking yourself is why would you call his bet to begin with, if you're going to fold to his next bet when you know he's going to bet. You should have decided before whether or not you wanted to go the whole way with this hand, and when you called KNOWING he was going to bet again, I'd say you made your decision. |
