So I have been doing really well at the 2/4 NL tables and was up about $800 on Saturday. There was an open seat at the 5/10 NL table that Mike Matasow was sitting at (bought in with my profit for the day), so I went to play a few hands. I played a few and he left shortly after and it was nice to play with a pro for once. After about and hour and a hlaf I was up about $600 and was getting lots of respect on my raises and re-raises at the table. I was on the button and got QJs and everything was folded around to me. I popped it to $35 thinking I'd take the blinds and that would be it, both blinds called though. I thought, no big deal, unless I hit the flop huge I'll dump the hand. Flop comes KQQ, 2 clubs. It gets checked to me, so I figure I'll just bet and take down the pot. I bet out $80 and the SB raises to $160, BB folds. I pause for a moment and think if he/she has a better Q than me. If they had something like AQ wouldn't they just call here hoping to trap me on the turn? Maybe he had a weak queen like QT... but I doubt he would have called a pre-flop raise with that hand in that postion. I settle on AK. I pop it up to $500 to go and he pushes all-in for $150 more. At this point, I figure I had gotten beat with AQ and had to pay off the last $150, so I called and he flips over AK. I jump for joy since he has 2 outs (4 if he hits an A on the turn). Turn is a 7. He types in "nh" and the river spikes a K. I felt sick. I was at a loss as he raked in a $1400 pot. Wow. Unreal. There is no justice.
My only saving grace was that I still was up for the day... but that win would have payed for my honeymoon. I need to take a break. |

About a year ago, on another site, I lost almost $300 when I flopped a full house. My opponent flopped quads. I had 99 and my opponent had 22 and the flop came 922.
Thankfully it's only happened to me the one time. |

| I've lost $1000 in a hand (first hand in 5/10 - pushed with the nut straight on the turn - when the board paired on the river, I knew before he flipped his hand that I was beat) - it's the worst feeling ever. |

| This is why BR management is important. Its really tough when you play a hand perfectly, get the other guy to make a mistake and they get paid off. I was a 96% favorite on the turn. Variance though. I can't imagine though having the nuts at the time, getting my money in and having a suck-out for $1000. I just wish the 4% came when I only had $25 in the pot though. Oh well. |

I've seen some weird stuff lately. Flush over Flush, Set over set, the hand I have in discussion at Sit-and Go, I mean absolute crazy stuff.
For example, AA vs. QQ- Ace and Queen on the flop.
I turn a flush with a straight flush draw while another one turns a higher flush. I didn't hit my straight flush-I lose.
I saw a royal flush today with JQKA of spades on board and he goes all-in on me with my JT without a spade (yes I folded, and yes he had the 10 of spades).
I've seen quads twice to the same guy in the same sit and go last night.
I had quads I think twice and seen it on another occasion.
I won a $50 pot after the flop with AQ high no pair because for some reason the other guy called $20 more with Q9.
Too bad actionpoker.com doesn't have a hand history because I would have shown these hands (Site affiliated with the Heartland poker tour). |

| One time I mis-read a hand live about $100 into it. |

| I lost $250 in my home game (huge for our game) when i flopped a boat and my friend flopped quads. My 22 vs his 55, flop was 552. Coincidentally he hit quads 3 times that same night, twice with a pocket pair where he flopped it, and once with a 9 when a 3rd 9 came on the turn after 2 flopped. |

I bring this example to the eyes of all the "I've seen quads 3 times in an hour - it must be rigged!" folks. |

Oh but Jaconda, dost thou forget the mantra of the "bad beat" player?
1. Online poker is rigged
2. Live home games are run by "card mechanics"
3. Casinos pay props to raise and rereaise pots to boost the rake.
They have an excuse for every occasion! |
