by not filling it with random thoughts that have little potential to generate good discussion or teach people something. General doesn't mean anything goes, it just means that the topics aren't exclusive to one form of poker.
Example of a bad thread: Feel vs. math, what's most important?
Example of a good thread: A question/statement about a general concept, preferably including one or a few example hands.
I think this is also a good place to discuss tilt management and stuff like that. "How did I play this" type threads will not be tolerated.

| We probably need some sort of sticky describing what is and what isn't acceptable. |

| Yeah, I think I'm going to start out by adding a couple of examples to the OP and stickying this thread, then adding more to the OP as people start posting/oming up with more examples. |

I'm kinda confused by what would go here. Is this like the Poker Theory forum on 2+2?
I suppose stuff like bankroll and psychology questions would make good topics. |

| Booo. Looks like I can't sticky this thread by editing the OP. As for what content iss supposed to go here, I think time will show us that. |

| In my mind it's for anything related to poker strategy that isn't game specific. Things like game theory, general strategy, tilt control, EV stuff, psychology imo. |

On top of what's been mentioned already, putting players on hand ranges, figuring odds based on that information, perhaps inflection points in tournament play would all be worthwhile topics for discussion here.
P.S., sticky. |

I think range discussion and inflection points are too game specific to really fit here. The former because it depends completely on which game is being played and the latter because it's tournament specific. The only general thing I can think of when it comes to putting people on ranges is basically "consider history, previous action in the hand and the board", which is pretty limited. Inflection point discussion in SNGs can go in the SNG forum and if it's for MTTs it can go in the MTT forum.
Edit: Moved 2 threads of mine here because they finally have a forum they belong in. If anyone has a thread they feel belongs in this forum rather than where it is now, post here or send me a PM and I'll move it if I agree. If I disagree I'll bring it up in the mod forum. |
