Had a pretty good session today until one hand near the end were I spewed a lot of it back.
For anyone else learning Limit Hold Em - I can't recommend enough to read through the posts in the sticky at the top of this forum, especially deadmoney's advice. My LHE graph now looks like a jagged V shape with the bottom of the V being where I read through the posts in that sticky.
Hand 1: Villain = 14.6/6.1/2.3
Full Tilt Poker, $0.25/$0.50 Limit Hold'em Cash Game, 8 Players

BPre-Flop: A J dealt to Hero (MP2)
UTG calls, 2 folds, Hero raises, 3 folds, BB calls, UTG calls
Flop: (6.4 SB) J 2 T (3 Players)
BB bets, UTG calls, Hero raises, BB calls, UTG calls
Turn: (6.2 BB) A (3 Players)
BB bets, UTG calls, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, UTG calls, Hero calls
River: (15.2 BB) 3 (3 Players)
BB bets, UTG calls, Hero calls
Hand 2: BTN = only 11 hands so meaningless stats, BB = 20/13.3/1 but seems to be playing looser than his stats suggest
Before anyone says it, I alreayd think betting out that river is horrible and c/c the river would be better.

Hand 1: Well played imo. I'm thinking you lost to KQ
Hand 2: I'd go ahead and check call that river. With the K on the flop and two other players hanging around, there is a good chance someone is holding the Kd, not to mention the Ad and Qd have you too. I think the only value by betting that river is to be prepared to fold if you are raised, which is really crappy to have to do. That's why i check call here. |

Hand 1: Cap the turn. Either you're losing to KQ or beating JT. Either way you still want UTG to pay for either his draw or his idiocy as you comfortably have him beat. I wouldnt like to call it which way UTG has, but you're definitely doing better here than you think.
Hand 2: I agree with check/calling the river, primarily to let the guy bluff. A weak tight player will sometimes fold if he doesnt have a diamond there (although its a bad play) So let him bluff you off it. |
