| I'd like to know how people pigeon hole others. I obviously know that if some is raising every pot and betting on every street that there super aggressive and if someone plays 1 hand an hour there a rock but how can you try to figure out what style there playing and how can you pick up on these things like betting patterns and what there raising with from early position and use it against them to come out on top. |

Pay attention to the hands that go to showdown. This shows how they played their hand on every street, so you can compare it how they're playing a hand that you're involved in with them.
You might also want to purchase PokerTracker 3 w/ Hud, which shows stats of each player on the table (commonly VPIP/PFR/AF). This describes how often they're entering pots preflop, how often they're raising preflop, and how aggressive they have been. If their VPIP is 20%, that means they're voluntarily putting money in with 20% of their hands preflop, which is most likely the top 20% of preflop hands. It takes some time/experience to get used to using this, but it's a very useful tool once you master it. |

| Try taking notes on the players at your table. Pay attention to their hands at showdown and make notes of what type of raises they make from which positions with what hands. Also pay attention to how they bet on each street with pairs, sets, draws, etc. It seems kind of tedious, but a lot of it is just feel, and the more you play, the easier it will be to pick up on tells without really having to think a whole lot about it. I just learned how to play poker last summer, and have been playing online for money for about 7 or 8 months now, and it's amazing how much you pick up just by playing and noticing certain things along the way and then recognizing them again when you are forced with a similar decision. That's about all I can tell you, and I'm sure some others will come along with some good advice. Good luck. |
