Now, that would be an interesting count:
How many unofficial hats did you get this Series? |

Well that sucked. I hit my goals of wanting 4 in the money and 3 at the final table. But, Greenstein going out 6th and Scotty winning it killed my freeroll chances.
From a non-fantasy perspective, I am quite happy that Scotty won. After his meltdown at the ME last year, I hope this eases his mind and makes up for that result.
I mentioned this last year, and will do so again. I hate how the scoring goes that it's based solely upon dollars. I feel that it rewards the ones who just put in a basic lineup for all events, and don't change for each event. It doesn't really matter how you do in the smaller events, just can you hit the big events. I have no problem weighing bigger buy-ins more than the 1500 or 2000 buy-ins, but wouldn't mind seeing something done where overall consistency in all events is rewarded more than it is now. Just my opinion though. |

Well really the way prizes/freerolls are rewarded, and the lack of anything for a high overall ranking unless you are in the top 100, someone who is more consistent with the smaller events will quite often get more free stuff ($ from freerolls or FTPs) than those who don't. I bet there are some people who have scored twice as high as you in overall rankings that don't even have half as many freerolls as you or any hats, and as long as the tangible freeroll cashes and FTPs are more important to you than that overall ranking number, then the system isn't really that different than the way you want it. |

Yeah, I have thought about the scoring system myself and thought the higher rankings were a bit unrepresentative BUT the lower rankings DO tend to have more cashes along the way of jerseys, hats and freerolls so I dunno................
I would still prefer to see a write-in option as this would make the scoring system perfect as long as folks followed guidelines for correctly making a write-in.
Clearly 10% of those names on this year's list should be dumped, and a lot of names reinstated.
Brian Hastings, Cole South, Lynette Chan........FT does NOT need further promotion of these names especially if they do not receive backing to enter the events or make efforts to enter the events. It's fine for FT to promote their own players IF they enter, but if they just shove their names on the list because they are affiliated with FT and then make little effort to even show during the WSOP, what's the point of knocking off a sure Horse entry like Gabe Kaplan?
But it's obvious there is little real connection between blastpromo and FT this year on the promotion because of the exclusion of so many big names. I think the increase of the choices this year hurt the promotion. The list could've been 66% shorter and the outcome either close to the same or more interesting.
But back to the scoring. If the scoring was along the lines of WSOP POY style, no doubt it would have been more rewarding but..........well, with the limitations on the names, maybe not.
So WTF do I know?
I am concerned this is the last year of the promotion. Maybe 60 40 that it will be back once again.
But it is obvious this was the worst year blastpromo has had with the promotion. Normally it is WSOP which screws things up during the Series, but this year with the exclusion of the tiebreaker (which made tiebreakers incredibly unfair as almost every tiebreaker was based upon the results of the first event with only the 50K Horse at an amount to shake things up), the screwup involving the awarding of the hats, the bizarre finish planned for the ME.......there simply has to be a shake up for the entire promotion regarding the coming years.
I think attendance was drastically down. I am not so sure that it ever went beyond 20,000 whereas last year's may have approached 30,000 by the time the ME came along. Whereas at first the additional 1000 entries for the freerolls may have been a good thing, it turned out to be pretty much like two years ago with half of the field registering but failing to show up for the events.
I have no idea if I am complaining or merely commenting. I am kinda on tilt. |

| Oh well, nodda in the horse. But JC won the 49 and I had him as an A. Might still get a another freeroll with Josh Arieh in 50 but I moved him down to my B team. My last shot is in horse with only 2 A teams left. Chad Brown and Allen cunningham. Now I'm going to have to figure out who I want to pick for the ME. I'm definately going to pick andy block, JC tran, barry G. Not really sure after that. |

feihua, I agree with what you said. Tom Dwan et al missing is like a fantasy football league where you're not allowed to pick rookies. Maybe they could open it up for feedback a week before and we could suggest names? Write ins based of PokerNews reports or the Hendon DB? No shows at the freerolls and being screwed on tiebreaks after the first event suck, too.
Anyway, blastpromo was very responsive to me when they thought the Mike Schneider who cashed was the other Mike Schneider and fixed it in a couple of hours. I think you should send them your ideas:

Boy, I used a lotta buts and whereasses in that post.
Blastpromo was completely unresponsive to me this year, a complete opposite from the prior year.
I made a mention of the tiebreaker before the WSOP started.
Last year, we had a Tilter ask us for suggestions, and I want to believe they listened to me when I suggested that the games match the events as well as have the chip stacks doubled like the events.
This year, a lot of us made name suggestions based upon our approval rating from last year and we were ignored.
Again, I think this is because the staff had hassles being tied up with the check scandal.
Just the same, lookie lookie here, why is that Kido Pham at the final table?!? Wow, isn't amazing how this dentist from Dallas does it once a year but for some reason can't get any respect?!?
Dammit, I would've loved to have had the opportunity to pick Joe Tehan for this event and that one.
Dwan? NO BRAINER.
WOW, look at that.........Mimi Tran going deep. Three years she has been shortsheeted. Makes you think she is not serious anymore.
GRRR> I am on a rant now and I don't like being that way at my beloved Tilt.
Let's give a shout out to those who did well at this year's Series but got shortsheeted:
Eugene Todd
Tom Dwan
Mimi Tran
Jeffrey Lisandro
Joe Tehan
Gabe Kaplan
Alex Kravchenko........well, he played........
.........and here's the deal: If Poker News can spot 'em, and mind you, they are not as good as I would like them to be, then their names oughta be on this promotion.
Hope lots of ya put Jerry Yang as a bona fide pick. I know there are still some of ya doing it for the ME.
No one's fault is the bottom line: this thing was low priority this year and there is no argument about it.
It makes it very scary about it showing up next year.
BTW, wasn't May just a month ago?!?
I am disappointed, but 'cept for the hats, I actually did better than last year.
I'm gonna miss y'all after November |

Could you tell us more about that Mike Schneider snafu?
I don't know anything about it, but have him or the other one in today's event. |

| Event 20: I didn't get credit so I sent them a note. They sent me an email saying they thought it was the MS from Georgia not Minnesota, but they'd check on it. I sent them a link to his cardrunners blog (he goes by Schneids) and they updated the standings (and I got my only legitimate hat). |

The money pool is rounding the corner and heading for the home stretch. Everyone still has a chance for the win (or at least 3rd place to make the money.) All it will take is a lucky selection or two for the main event.
$13,584,091 fonzy4
$10,229,421 brezinhill2009
$10,190,705 caracara
