Here's a recent hand that was responsible for me winning a low-limit sit&go. Suits do not matter in this hand, although there may have been a flush draw possible. Table is 6-handed at this stage, blinds are creeping up fast.
I have an image (carefully crafted) as a maniac on the table - I've showed down two bluffs cheaply and deliberately to cultivate such an image, this is a part of my standard strategy.
Me (Big Blind) gets dealt 3-5
4 limpers including small blind
Of course, I check, getting ready to fold on the flop.
Flop: 3-5-5
UTG hits check/fold
2nd to act raises (small raise)
SB calls
I reraise (75% of pot)
UTG folds
2nd reraises all-in
SB calls
I re-raise all-in
SB calls
UTG shows QQ
SB shows A-5
River and turn miss everyone, I triple up on a hand I'd never have played any other time.
Moral to this story is - raise your solid (QQ) or even mediocre (A5) hands preflop, or don't play them at all. You never know when the big blind might get to see three free cards and pwn you... |

| yeah, there's really nothing better than bad players who try to get tricky with their big pairs, but can't fold them when things start to go awry. usually they end up blaming their "bad luck". |

Not at a low-fee sit&go. People limp in with a lot of quality hands, and raising there was asking to be reraised (the guy with QQ probably would have shoved all-in if i raised into him).
Most donks at this level only raise preflop with AK, AQ, AJ, KK and sometimes QQ, KQ. (AA is almost universally slowplayed except when there has already been one or more big raises) |
