None of it is very pretty! The check on the flop is very ugly and I'm sure you could have saved your chips by betting there. If he calls then obviously a donkey play but with two others in the pot you have to raise there.

Yeh I realise that. I just went for a little play as ive been pretty card dead for a couple of previous tourns so wanted to make it pay. Hi call on the river was terrible tho you have to admit. I was pretty happy when he turned over those hearts. Just a shame he hit one, otherwise my terrible check may have paid off. As it happened, I paid the ultimate price.

Meh, your flop check is probably worse since he was getting almost 2:1 on his turn call and you're missing out on so much value by checking.

He did have 12 outs at the point he called your all in. 9 hearts (including the 8) and the other 3 8's.
I am also betting he thought his K could be good since no one bet out on the flop. So in his mind he may have been thinking 15 outs and that your all in was just an attempt to steal.
I would have bet on the flop but if I didn't on the turn I just would have called or reraised rather than go all in at that point. |

i think in that situation u have to lead out with a decent bet. u checking on the turn opened the door for his donkey play. if u lead out and bet the ace with a strong bet u can either take the pot then or he would just fold his rags. after the check on the flop his all in was pretty bad but u may have been pegged for a 6 or a 7 by him. (aces usually bet) so when u shove it looks like a bluff to him and hes got a good shot to take the pot with hearts or the 8. its all risk vs reward.

If you're going to trap on flop why push on the turn? He played it horrible, but I don't understand why you would semi trap.
