I've seen Doyle fold 10-2 quite a few times, once where the flop came afterwards, 10102. It all depends on his position, stack size, and # of opponents.

Yeah, i saw him fold 10-2 on tv once but he was last to act and folded them face up saying, "i'd like to but not this time" or something. Any chance he gets though, its showtime... What a curse for WSOP winners, just think of Hachem and how much money he will lose over his lifetime with 73o? Wink

I find AQ to be a fine starting hand in cash games but in tournaments where people seem much more likely to push in pre-flop with mid to low pocket pairs they can be a disaster. I see many times more people pushing in tournaments with 22-88 than anywhere in cash games and all of these hands are a favorite (albeit slight ones) to AQ. And rarely do I see people push with KQ, AJ, etc unless they are desperate so you're likely to be either a small underdog, or a very large underdog to QQ, KK, AA, or AK. I find in cash games that I treat AQ almost like AK, your equity is in getting others to fold pre-flop. I see a lot of people playing it weakly pre-flop because they are worried, then try to play it strongly post-flop because they simply do not want to fold it.

ur not a dog to ak..

I play AQ ssslllllllllllloooooowly, and fold it fast. If you come out betting big preflop, anyone who calls will likely have you dominated.

An A on the flop leaves you afraid of someone with AK, so there's not much you can do there. You can work with a pair of Qs if you hit that, but even that's not all that great. Drawing out two-pair be great, but if you wanted to do that kind of loose stuff, you could do it with lower cards and actually stand to get paid.

AQ has actually been a more profitable hand for me than AK. I have no idea why. I don't think I play them that much differently, although I must be more likely to fold AQ than AK. Who knows. Looking through some of my hand histories, it looks like I've sucked out w/ AQ quite a bit, and have had my AK sucked out on just as often. Weird.

Sad I"VE HAD IT!!!!!! AQ HAS TO BE THE WORST STARTING CARDS

EVER

I feel ya.

Yesterday in a two table s&g I get AQ in the SB. I get 3 limpers in front of me and I raise, don't remember exactly, but like 3xBB, BB folds and I get two callers.
flop comes A 9 10, I bet 3xbb again and get reraised by a guy in middle position, other guy folds, because he just limped PF I figured I'm good, but thought maybe he flopped 2 pair, still i call, turn is a 7, with 350 in chips left i go all in, he calls, he has AJ,
So what do I get for my great read?...an 8 on the river, he made a straight.

That hand is trouble I tell you. Cost me over 1/3 of my stack at a local tournament. I think we all feel your pain.
