i didn't get 2 the worst parts:
>KronX actually sent me the SIMM modules.
>B4 i moved to Pennsylvania, i was a hardware technician in Silicon Valley
for over 15 years! [the shame and humiliation after my ****up has been
immense]
Oh btw KronX...
the new puter has audio ports, dude actually tested them at the shop.
my flat-screen ViewSonic monitor has 2 audio ports in the back to
match, with what look like speakers[a 1.5"/35mm strip of holes(?)
below the video screen].
Question: would [2 each] good old RCA cables work here, or do you
need special Computer-type ones? [gawd i'm such a noob at audio...]
I thought i'd ask first, b4 i started an electrical fire or something.

I actually messed up putting in ram before. It was my first time opening up my computer. I tried putting in the ram, but I couldn't get it to click. I didn't want to press too hard, afraid I would break something. I brought it in to my computer guy, and he put it in, and closed up the computer in less than 90 seconds.
Me: How much I owe you?
Him: Pffft, no charge. |

| 3.5 mm females don't tend to do very well with RCA males, so you'll have to get some 3.5 mm -> RCA cables or converters if your amp/speakers/whatever you're connecting the audio out to uses RCA inputs. My guess is that you're better off just connecting it directly through the soundcard and leaving the monitor out of the signal path though. |

ummm... i thinkx they're both the same size[the female jacks on the soundcard and the monitor].
but it IS a different size jack??? |

| Yeah I'd be surprised if they weren't the same size. 3.5mm connectors are standard for computer audio. It's just that I have a hard time seeing what a monitor would add to the sound and unnecessary stuff in the signal path generally isn't a good thing. |
