IMO Rooney is lazy. Apart from what you mention above, he did next to nothing in the final, and was rightly substituted. If United really are after Huntelaar in the summer, he could be in danger of finding himself on the bench. And yes I realsie he brings more to the team than goals as he is a creative player (and thank God because as a front player he really does not score enough goals, especially for £30M). It is possible to over rate Rooney, because for a striker he is over rated - he is not a goalscorer, if he played in central midfield that would be fine. Give me Torres or Berbatov ahead of Rooney any day of the week. |
I'm sorry, Rooney is NOT lazy. I live in ireland and therefore get the chance to watch almost every united game live on TV. Rooney is a workhorse, as ferguson said, he took him off BECAUSE he worked so hard, and looked too tired for ExTime. I hear what you're saying about the lack of goals, that is an obv truth. But if you already have a player scoring 40+ goals a season (CR) and both rooney and tevez around the 15-20 mark, any mananger in the prem would kill for that strikeforce. I also belive that if (when?) Ronaldo leaves, rooney will shine again.
Yea..... so leave him alone..... smellyhead |

He is though. People are still remembering the hype from when he was a kid at Everton and his start to his Man U career. 2 goals in 2 years is pathetic at international level, and he was anonymous in the champions league final and Englands game the other night. Dont get me wrong he is a good player and has the potential to be even better. If he is valued at £30 million, Torres, Berbatov and the like must be pushing £70 million - he is not yet the player they are. As a striker he needs to score more goals, even Louis Saha is a more natural finisher than him. |

Perhaps I was wrong about being lazy - but in the final I'm sorry I barely even noticed him playing - Tevez was oustanding compared to him. PLus Ronaldo probably is the best player on the planet right now, but in terms of goals I think its fair to say he had a freak season on that part. Rooney scored 12 goals, so its not as high as you think. |
