This hand was played during Saturday's MBJ, I just forgot to post it after since the forum was down. We kind of discussed it at the table after the hand, some said they'd raise or fold preflop, raise the flop, or raise the river. Sorry it's not converted, the Leggo Poker Converter didn't want to convert it for some reason and I wasn't crazy about FTR's converter for LHE.

I'd raise the river but otherwise this looks good to me. While a case can be made for raising the flop, I think I prefer waiting for the turn unless there's some specific history that gives you a reason to believe pokit2s will be less likely to raise or more likely to give you action if you raise than normal.

What kind of range do you think you're ahead of when he caps the turn? Is he really capping it with like AQ/QK here, even more often than hands that beat you (two pair or a set on the turn)?

Hmmmmm...

I think his range is pretty narrow here, so I my first instinct is to flat call the river. KY was the BB, so he could realistically have ATC, but I think 22 or maybe 77 is most likely. He could have a 2pr combination like 57 given the way the action comes to life on the turn. I can't really have seen him making the call preflop with Q2, Q5 or Q7. I'm really starting to lean back towards him having 22, I think it's about 50% of his range. The river lead is slightly worrying after you capped the turn, he clearly thinks he's ahead, and chances are the Q hasnt made a difference.

So upon thinking, raise the river, and call a 3bet instead of capping it as a cap will properly screw you when you're behind, the saved bet will give you a fighting chance with 500 instead of 300 chips.

The only hand that beats you is 77, so even if he only takes that line with sets you break even on your river raise.

Edit: And yes, I'm aware that you're technically beat by a bunch of other hands but I doubt if he's ever seeing a flop with those. Speaking of the process of elimination, that line is pretty terrible with 77 too so you can probably discount that a little as well, although not nearly as heavily as all the other hands that beat you.

Blah. I guess I shouldn't be so results oriented, maybe I should raise this river and just call if he 3bets.

Oh well, on a positive note it shouldn't be hard to win your money back if that hand is indicative of his overall game.
