|
|
2 online players are caught cheating and admit to it within a span of three weeks.
Both are playing from home over the same IP as different user IDs in the same tournaments.
Both are very highly regarded Internet players. One is a master of the SNG, which if played with three accounts at once at the same table is pretty much robbery.
Both have money seized by Party, the site of the cheating, and both are removed from the site.
Both post mea culpas on pocketfives.com and twoplustwo.com, and both give their position for why they cheated.
Amazingly, I think, a large number of posters on these sites post messages of support encouraging the rest of us to remember that these are great players who made mistakes. In some cases the 'everyone does it' excuse is given.
Granted, the acts didn't take place on FTP, so no huge surprise that there's nothing about it on our boards, but what does everyone think? |

| It's cheating, plain and simple - whether or not "everyone else does it" (which they don't, by the way) is irrelevant. No pity. |

| Cheating is cheating. If it was a live game, regardless of whether they were great players who made a mistake, they would get the hell beat out of them. There is no redemption that justifies the crime. |

| I find it downright reprehensible. The fact that they try to defend themselves to the poker community is worse than the cheating. And the fact that some in the community step up to defend them is the worst yet. |

Cheating it is, I always thought no matter what Poker game you participate you are only allowed to play one hand at a time... Poker is NOT BlackJack! (In fact if you play more than one hand in BlackJack, you have to pay more than the minimum)...
I also find it revolting that they say everybody is doing it so its okay... Bull! I have ONE account on each of the sites I play, and I do not go open another just to get rakeback.
I have read the posts by both of them, and their statements and actions are exactly the reasons the government of United States of America wants to totally make online poker illegal... I sure hope these incidents do not feed more fuel to that fire.
I do however hope all online sites, as is the case with Party, take notice and increase their vigilance in attempting to prevent this time of thing from happening again..
I must be pissed, this is more words than I said to my wife on our wedding day...
Good Luck at the tables! |

| I believe party did everything right, and that pretty much is a ridiculous advantage. Collusion is unacceptable in any way shape or form. It's like table-talk in Euchre, except you get points taken away or if you're playing for money, some kind of small amount like if you're playing $1 a point you and your partner put in a buck a piece. This is a lot bigger than $1 because they were probably winning thousands of dollars. |

| So who are these people posting on pocketfives.com and twoplustwo.com in support of the 'great players' who just 'made a mistake'???? They're the worst ones in all of it, because in some online forums there are as many of them as there those of us who find the chaters to be reprehensible little slugs. |

The anonymity of online play makes punishing cheaters difficult. Sure, you can sieze an account or ban a certain credit card # or IP, but if people want to play they can find a way to play.
Personally, if I knew players had been caught cheating in a significant manner I would simply refuse to let them join my games. |

| There is no excuse for cheating, plain and simple. Doesn't matter what it is in my book. |

Cheating is cheating, period.
In the old days, if you cheated during a large scale B&M game dealing with a ton of money, you'd be shot, maybe killed for cheating.
Of course I'm not advocating that we hunt down and kill this guy, but I'm just saying that those were the reprecussions sometimes. |
