I am sorry, truly.
But you gotta admit there are some funny points present:

I have two points;
1) significant body damage
2) if I am the only person to ever drive my car, then I will be the only one to blame when something goes wrong |
You don't need a new car.
You need full coverage auto insurance.
They will give you more than a thousand. |

| Why not a bike? You can't play poker and not be at least partly insane. Just get a cruiser, a sports bike will kill your body. |

New (I don't do "pre-owned") |
This is your biggest mistake. Buying a new car is kind of retarded. You can buy a 2 year old car that's practically new with 20K-30K miles on it for half the price of the same car new. You lose all the value of that new car over the first couple of years.
As for your options check this site. It's never steered me wrong.

This is true. When my wife and I wrecked our SUV in 2007 we needed to get another vehicle. This time I shopped around and ended up getting a 2006 Saturn Ion (need the family car now) for under $12K when a brand new one would've cost us $20k. The car had under 19K miles and was in excellent condition. I couldn't ask for anything more. New is nice but nowadays it isn't the best. Pre-owned or previous rentals retain their value better because they are sold at KBB or lower most of the time. I haven't had any problems with my previously owned vehicles. I also have a 1994 Toyota Tercel that was 10 years old when I bought it for $3K and had only 50K miles on it(stills has less than 100K now). It runs like a charm and is a gas saver in this time of need. If you look around and do some research you can save a lot of money if you go pre-owned. I am pretty sure you can use that extra $15K somewhere else. Anyways Good Luck with whatever choice you make! |

| Well, seeing as I am a former Mazda RX8 owner I guess I should chime in here. (Yep the pretty car in my sig is sold and gone.) Anyhow, if you are driving 50/50 highway/city miles, you will pull about 17-18 mpg on average. Couple that with the fact that the Renesis requires premium gas.... you got yourself a hefty little bill. And for whoever said that the RX8 doesnt handle as well as an M3, I'm going to have to say you are wrong. Back when I owned the car, I kept up with Lotus Elises on curvy entrance ramps on two different occasions. The RX8 is a monster in the twisties. Its weakness comes in the straightaway. At less than 150 ft/lb of torque to the wheels, its is by no means a dragster. If you don't care about possibly having to sell a kidney to afford gas, than you can find a used RX8 in great shape for $15K or so. I would NOT recommend buying one new, the RX8 is one of the worst cars for depreciation you will ever find. |
Well maybe I stand corrected.
Its my preference, but I'd rather have a car that handles pretty solid and nails it on a straight as opposed to a car that handles amazingly, but then struggles to keep up with anything hgiher end
But yes, once you get onto a straight if you have an M3 behind you would be as well wave a white flag and put your hazards on as you will struggle to read the letters on its license plate when it zips past you.
I knew they were pretty ridiculous on petrol because of the engine technology, the ones here are 1.3 L engines, but actually the equivelant of 2.5 with the horse power, but I didnt think they deprciate in value that badly. |

I get the joke, however on a serious note a sportsbike is something you park in the front yard and ride to the shops on the weekend to buy the milk. To ride a sportbike for any distance is murder on your back and legs. In other words, a sportbike is for 'pretend bikers'.
A cruiser is a proper bike. Take it for a proper ride and you can still sprint down the street (for what reason is unclear).
Remember, cruisers are for real bikers, laugh at any moron with a 'sports' bike. |

Cruiser Bike:
Great for flatlands, come try riding back from the market UP to my house in the Oakland hills. I will laugh as I pass you walking.
Side Notes:
-I laugh at all adults on a sports bike, unless they are in some trick show.
-Cal biking team practice in my hills.
-Mountain bikes are for mountains.
-Go buy a Subaru. I don't own one but the one I recommended is fun to drive and can go to the snow. |

You sold a 6 year old Civic for $1k??? WTF did it need, a new engine, chassis and wheels??
I'm not a fan of any of the cars you listed, but then I have particular taste, so mine would be the following:
Honda Integra Type R DC5 (06)
Honda Civic Type R EK9 (99)
Honda Civic Type R EP3 JDM Spec (05)
BMW M3 Coupe (07)
Obviously all pre owned though. |
BMW might have been some 'exotic' car to those of us at the end of the world back in the 80's but now even us Aussies realise that it's only a average car.
Anyway, what part of new don't you understand. Mind you, you could sell him a car just out of warrantee, wait a month or two, tamper with the car so it runs poorly then say that the cars had it and buy it cheaply from him.
Where does this guy live? Actually better not say that, he might answer. |
If an albine tuned 400bhp M3 that does 0-60 in around 4 seconds is an "average" car then I presume all you Aussies drive around in Lambos and F40's? LOL "BMW an average car" - stop acting like you know anything about cars and pipe down. |
Hmmmmm, is the tuning company not Alpina? I could be wrong mind seeing as you know so much about cars. You are correct though Stevie a 400BHP Beemer is not average, but then neither is the price tag.... .....you ain't gonna be picking one up new for $26000 |

Very amusing. I also laugh at aging men who suddenly buys a Harley & claim to be a serious biker. |

I didnt mean this type of car would be for the OP, I was aiming it at Branch for stupidly suggesting a Beemer is an average car. Even a standard M3 is an awesome car. |

Well, its all in what you want in a car. Personally I sold my RX8 and bought a Mazdaspeed 3. 268 HP/280 ft/lbs of torque is a blast. Plus it handles well. (Not quite RX8 handling, but nice.) But the RX8 is still a blast to drive, and its not exactly a slouch. It will run 14.5 1/4 miles. While not M3 territory, if you appreciate a roadster is a great ride. |

The standard BMW is only a average car and if you're looking at the more expensive options, there are plenty of better choices out there. |
