I've searched for and scanned for a discussion on this topic and am surprised I haven't found any:
With the recent software update all chat is disabled in tournaments when we are 2 players from the bubble. It also seems that it's disabled at the final table, or maybe it's disabled from bubble time on - I actually haven't paid enough attention to be absolutely sure.
Regardless, what is the logic behind this feature and what are players opinions about it? I can see the benefit of eliminating chat from the inevitable beggars and railbirds, but those of us still in the tourney might still like to be able to chat. I'm not a big chatter, but the occasional "nh" or "ul" or misc comment is still a nice part of the game.

chat is disabled during most allin moments to avoid the possibility of collusion. This is a good thing unless you like to cheat.
Observer chat has been turned off for final tables. This is a godsend considering how many beggars you get at FTs, and how bad the chat is at the FT of a major event. |

It's more than just that. When the bubble approaches there is a message in the chat box stating that "chat is currently disabled". At the final table, (for sure) I've tried to chat, but get the message that chat is disabled.
These happen when there is no all-in to block them - I've tested that and confirmed.
WTH? |

I get your point V. I've not seen collusion quite like that before.
However, wouldn't it still make sense to turn it back on after the bubble? Or, failing that, at the final table?
I do appreciate turning off observer chat tho'. Those pests arrive just as we all are assured of a payout and particularly at the final table.
Anyone else have an opinion at all? |

| i was an advocote against disableing the chat!!!! but i took a outsiders veiw and discovered my comments influenced certain players so in retrospect chat disabled is a good idea keep it |

Stars does it too. Players will collude just as much as the railtards.
Meh, there's definitely a better way for a returning member to use his first post in about a year. |

You can go to ring games when (more like IF) they show up to play. Still chat with them there. |
