Just had a really bad 3 days. I've lost over 1/3 of my roll on bad beats and coolers and it feels like everything I do goes bad.
How do you guys handle this? Do you take a few days off? I dropped in limits but it just keeps happening.
I've reviewed my hands in PT and I see mostly coolers and beats. I did find a couple of poorly played hands but it's not even close. Every time this happens, I feel like quiting this game 
Any suggestions? |

| If I'm running good I play more aggressively. I play more hands, and I reraise with dicely hands like TT or JJ. When I'm running bad I try to save money, by moving down a level, playing less hands, and maybe limping with JJ or TT (after someone has evetered the pot), or just calling raises to try and hit a set. |

Just stay cool.
And even if you keep losing: everytime you make the right play, congratulate yourself instead of getting angry at the others (TILT).
If you didn't make the right play: admit it!
The cards will come your way eventually. |

I haven't found anything to do other than take a day or two off. There are definitely times when it feels like the game just won't go your way (every raise you make gets reraised, you lost four SnGs in a row after getting in with the much better hand, whatever). Once it starts to get to me (how much it takes before it gets to me can vary) I just walk away. I remind myself I'm not trying to prove anything, and it's not about making the money back right this moment. I just go read a (non-poker) book, or watch a movie, and go to bed.
On the other hand, when I'm running strong, I play like mad, sometimes even pulling all nighters. Those times when you realize you just won three SnGs in a row with ease, and you feel sharp. During those times, it's good to keep going. If you're playing great poker, don't stop! |

| A good night's sleep, shower, or a walk will do the trick. The key is forgetting what happened from previous sessions, and not letting that psychologically affect your play in the next session. Easier said than done, but luckily I have that sort of personality. |

Once, just before my accident last Christmas, I busted out of three MTTs within a few seconds of each other, all to ridiculous beats.
As I sat there, staring at the screen, I heard a pathetic squeaking sound coming from the garden. I went out to investigate, and sure enough it was my daughter's guinea pig, Basil.
The little bastard was obviously mocking me, so I chased it with a rake. Didn't quite catch it, but I taught it a lesson.
The moral of the story is this: senseless violence can often be a wonderful outlet for tilt, especially when targetted at small, vulnerable creatures. |

the trick is to adjust your play to how you are running. IMO never slow play sets if you are running bad, gutshots will hit way more often than they are supposed to. In retrospect, if you are running amazing, you gotta see a lot of flops, 3 and 4 bet more often w/ speculative hands, and slow play big hands, stack off on draws, etc.
When running bad, try to play small ball poker, avoid races, and try to pick up uncontested pots. Even with the adjustments, you probably won't fair too well deep in a tourney, or ever gain that much in a cash game, but it will definetly help cut the losses in bankroll that you may be experiencing.
Everyone runs bad from time to time, unless u run like god. The trick is to minimize your losses when the cards dont go your way, and to maximize your profits when you seem to hit every race, draw, etc. |
